I can draw vehicles very well since I draw a lot of comics (mostly Sonic comics) in my free time. The Sonic comics I draw are often crammed with cars; the engine sound accurately written in words. The one I'm working on right now there are the following vehicles:

a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_528688.html driven by my fan character whose name I will not state. I'm only going to say that he shares his last name with a strutter, and the first name with an uninhabited island in the South Pacific, halfway between Hawaii and the Cook Islands.

a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_59626.html driven by http://archiesonic.wikia.com/wiki/Elias_Acorn

a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_665055.html coupe driven by http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Geoffrey_St._John
Later, he schemes in a 2000 http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_32717.html

a [url=http://www.mz-heinz.de/mz_heinz_bilddateien/images_old/mz_rotax/saxon-fun-500.jpg] police bike briefly driven by http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Zonic_the_Zone_Cop

a http://imcdb.org/vehicle_319125.html driven by a street gang with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZiN7UUk9Vs blasting from the speakers

And for Neptune: a black http://imcdb.org/vehicle_711785.html driven by http://archiesonic.wikia.com/wiki/Remington

From past comics:

a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_369525.html and in the following comic a dark green 2000 http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_468501 by http://archiesonic.wikia.com/wiki/Lien-Da

A http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_374664.html driven by Knuckles' family. In that same comic, my fan character drives a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_61635.html and http://archiesonic.wikia.com/wiki/Julie-Su drives a http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_299717.html which breaks down and is later destroyed by a rocket launcher.

Just some examples....

It might be a good idea to stick to one manufacturer for one side (good or evil).

For my never-finished Gordon Jetfield book series it was planned that it was sponsored by Chrysler Corporation.

Gordon Jetfield drives a black Chrysler 200, the bad guys are driving black Chrysler Town & Country. In the 3rd book Gordon was supposed to drive a silver Dodge Charger SRT-8.

In my Space Galaxies book series (part 2 is finished, part 3 is half-way and part 1 will follow later) i have no major manufacturer, but in one scene i chose a 2014 Dodge Dart to keep this "Chrysler" stuff straight. Police and taxi cars are always Ford Crown Victoria offcourse even if they are slowly leaving police in real life.

But the best thing is that i invented my own company. First it was a spinoff of an old "Team Knight Rider" episode where i had to create my own car company to avoid legal issues.

Its called Winter Industries and this company is always the big bad guy (not intentional in "Space Galaxies"). They have at least one major or minor appearance in all of my books.

Ah, that reminds me! I finished my latest Sonic comic yesterday and introduced a car I made up called the Toyota Radius. Sold exclusively in Albion, (not Greece) it is nothing but a rebadged Suzuki Swift. The first Swift http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Swift#mediaviewer/Datei:SuzukiSwift133.jpg is the only one that wasn't sold under this name, as the first-generation Radius was a rebadge of the second gen Suzuki Swift, http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Swift#mediaviewer/Datei:Suzuki_Swift_GS_perlr- ot_front.JPG and the following Radiuses adopted the designs of the Swift successors.

The current Radius has been in production since September 2010, and is a rebadge of the current Swift. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Swift#mediaviewer/Datei:Suzuki_Swift_1.2_Comf- ort_(FZ_NZ)_–_Frontansicht,_26._März_2011,_Düsseldorf.jpg

I had set up a (German) website for cars in Spirou comics a long time ago. Unfortunately, I can't find it anymore. :ohwell:

...but in exchange, I have started making a digital version of my list of cars in Spirou I only have a few albums at home, while the rest were taken to our weekend house in Hasselfelde.

But there is one car that has puzzled me ever since I saw it. I do not know what the album is called in French, but the German title is "Tiefschlaf für die ganze Stadt" (Deep slumber for the whole city) The car is yellow, undoubtedly a showcar, and as much as I searched, I could not find any showcar that resembles .

No, it was a background vehicle. I'll see if I can find a picture of it...
I also need help on "Spirou á New York" with the taxi that gets shots up - it looks like a Cadillac, but as soon as we see the 18-wheeler bearing down on it, it appears much smaller, like a Buick Century or any other PLC.
http://i.skyrock.net/1934/36991934/pics/1667684712.jpg
The yellow car at left...when creating the original list back in 2009, I took it for a Pontiac J2000 (a five year old car at a demo derby? ) but now I think Studebaker. Yellow striped coupe could be a Vega? #3 car: mid 70s Mercury? Red and yellow cars at right: no idea. Red car: postwar Chevrolet with custom bumpers.
The VW can be seen with five-by-four vents on its hood in another panel, which would make it a 1975 or later.

Thanks antp! Should we split this subtopic of identifying Spirou into another thread, or should it stay here? I mean, it kind of matches with the original idea of the ICCDB...

For the yellow car, here is a collage of several:
http://i.imgur.com/55NeTG7.jpg
First one is a Facel-Véga, last one is a Cadillac (but now I see you say it is background, so it is not that... and you would have recognized it anyway :D)

edit: no need to split I suppose, this thread can be used for discussions about identification of comics cars.

Some other background yellow cars in Les Pirates du silence:
Renault Juvaquatre Fourgonnette
???
A brand new MG A?

(Click on a picture to see a larger version)

I think it's the second one you're talking about, Gamer?

@ Baube:
The Quick Super is a separate short story at the end of the album. It's about this car:

I wondered about that one, too. The lines are very Ghia-ish, similar to the 1954 De Soto Adventurer II, but it's possible that it's a fantasy car, similar to the Quick and the Turbots.

There are so many cars still worth mentioning, but it would take a huge comment to post them all.

On the very first page of "Z comme Zorglub" one can see a Ford Prefect 100E crashing into a Simca Aronde. I'm pretty sure the Ford wasn't sold anywhere outside of the Isles, let alone the Benelux countries.

At the end of "La foire aux Gangsters" there is a 57-61 DeSoto parked on the lawn of Ville Champignac. The car is wearing a US-untypical oval "USA" sticker on the back, which may imply that it was sold off by an American serviceman somewhere in Germany.
(The story itself contains an unusual amount of US cars, from the top of my head a '58 Ford and a junked '47 Chevy.)

I've found some pictures of the "'47 Chevy" but now that I look at it, I think it is either a Dodge or a Plymouth:

...and now I am facing another mystery. "Du glucose pour Noémie" contains a very strange Honda which doesn't seem to be listed anywhere on Wikipedia (no, it's not the S800, it's something else)
This Honda had an S600/S800 rear end, but it was a sedan...

[...] "Du glucose pour Noémie" contains a very strange Honda [...]

Do you mean this car?
http://i.imgur.com/xNUo5jP.jpg

Remember that Franquin worked also on Starter, the column dedicated to cars in the Spirou Magazine, during the 1950s and that he has been helped by Jidéhem (the guy who took over Starter in the 1960s) from 1957 onwards. You should certainly not expect the same accuracy about cars in Fournier's drawings, as he was clearly not that picky about cars: his drawings make them a lot more cartoonish. So is this "Honda" really a Honda, and does it exist in reality?

I've just read "Spirou in Moscow" and noticed two strange things:
After supposedly "killing" Spirou and Fantasio, Prince Tanaziof/Zantafio's right hand man Nikita orders a taxi...to the "Winter Palace" The Winter Palace, however, is in Saint Petersburg and not Moscow.

Despite the subtitles, every Russian translation is either gibberish or a quote from (I guess) a Tolstoi or Dostojevski work. When I translate the comics later on, I'm going to make sure the translation is proper!

And thirdly, Spirou, Fantasio and Spip are all seen with ushankas on the cover (it looks kind of cute on Spip  ) but they are never seen dressed that way in the story.
