SUVs really don't block other motorist’s view that bad ... there are way worse vehicles on the road that block views and there are lots of them (at least here in the US): Buses, Moving Trucks, Class A Motorhomes, Class C Motorhomes, Dump Trucks, Semi Tractor-trailers [All types: Tank, Trailer and Dump body] and large Parcel Delivery Box Style Vans (like the ones UPS and FedEx use)
Let me explain Neptune, when I'm in my car (of ordinary height), usually when I'm behind another ordinary car, I can see through the windows, so I can see the traffic in front, so I can tell whether everyone in front of me is slowing or braking. It's helpful. But when it's an SUV, I can't see any of that because the rear window is too high. Plus SUVs tend to be bulkier all round, so it's harder to see past them (If I was behind your massive Expedition, I wouldn't be able to see bugger all!) Granted, buses, lorries and vans block my view as well, but as antp explained, those things exist for a reason. When it's someone in an shiny new Range Rover or other big, fancy SUV, I know damn well that thing's never going offroad, so I think "why does that *@#!% have to drive that thing?" And don't forget that European and British roads tend to be narrower than American ones.
Also when I'm on the motorway, large lorries only tend to use the slow lane, so I can choose to use other lanes, thus lorries usually aren't that much of a visual obstruction.
