It's kind of cool that there are people still collecting these. I though Germany tried to force everyone to get rid of their old cars.

Yes, our government always wants to push the people to buy new cars.
But the Abwrackprämie scrappage sheme was 10 years ago - and although a few classic cars were crushed back then, it was only a few and none such old and valuable classics as a DKW 1000 SP.
As the scrappage sheme money were 2500 €, it were more cars with that value, so some Opel Kadett B or so as 70ies or even 60ies cars.

And Germany wasn't the only country with such scrappage shemes. IIRC such was made also in Norway, Sweden, Greece and France, probably somewhere else, too.

But of course, there are politicians, who hates classic cars (and cars at all) and want to forbid them somehow.
The lobbyists of the German classic car scenes (I'm a bit involved) had heard in ministeries in Berlin and elsewhere:
"Be happy, that we don't have the power now. If we will be elected, you with your stinking cars will be our first victims."

So we classic car freaks have to be watchful!

And not only in Germany. Of course there are haters in the political world of other countries, too.
Check it out!
