I added the Z with point and E with tilde:
http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=139061
http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_82838-Efini-RX-7-FD.html
If other makes need a similar special thing, I can add that easily.

Fixed a bug: when you added an Opel with A/B/C/... code, it took one letter below the one entered. I wonder why nobody noticed that, as the bug is there since long time. It may explain why some Opel were entered with the wrong code, though

New quote system, now on a separate page (useful when the movie page is huge and takes a while to load), with few notes added to try to prevent useless quotes.

Notice displayed in red when an admin edits someone else's message, as by accident sometimes this happened when we wanted to quote a message.

Added a spoiler tag:
message
(without the space in 1st tag)
message is not displayed until the spoiler is clicked, similar to what is here on the forum:
message

Can also be used to hide non-car related images on movie pages if some are judged not suitable for all publics (though that this still does not allow porn images  it is just for these woman images that many think still acceptable)

Added the famous "made in" field discussed previously, hoping that it would solve most of the problems with the origin field (but it will create others, I am sure). At the same time, I renamed "origin" to "model origin".

By the way, recently the help page was updated to include guidelines (which were rather implicit for most of the admins): http://www.imcdb.org/help.php#HelpGuidelines

Sorry for the absence of French version of this (and of the Guidelines) but I do not have so much free time :ohwell:

Antoine, you're the best!

The "Efini E" is such a sweet touch!

Thanks for the Z with 'dot' antp.

About the 'made in' - a lot of work before us.
But just as an additional info it can be interesting. I propose not to add it to the page's statistics as for sure not every car will have filled this field even if deserves for that.

good job Antoine

I have one idea in my mind. How about adding a 'next' function to a movie page ? For example if I go to the first vehicle of a movie I could click 'next' and proceed to second vehicle of that movie. Therefore i wouldn't have to press 'back' key all the time when choosing vehicle(s). Did you understand ?

I should indeed add some navigation facilities like that.
I always open new tabs/pages when I navigate so I forget that for some people coming back to the previous page implies to click "back" (which reloads the page on imcdb, as it is not cached).
The problem with a "next" link is that it depends on how the vehicles were sorted on movie page (though that it is still manageable).
Maybe it would be better to use a framed navigation page: at the left or the right, having 1 column with all the cars of the movie, and the detail opening in main frame.
Something like this:

(for those who do not like: do not worry, it would be an option, current system will still exist)

Is there a model year field as a search option? I would also suggest a "hardtop" or "sport sedan" field for pillarless cars and wagons, but that may take considerable effort to relist so many vehicles.

I'd go by "hardtop" - it might an interesting bit of info for models who came in both pillared and pillarless versions.

- search on year : not possible currently (you can change sort order to sort by year, though), I plan to add that
- hardtop/sportsedan/... we usually use the extra info field. I have to add search options to be able to enter a criteria for both model and extra info (currently you can enter one value to search in both fields at same time)

Would there be a problem to add a category, though? I believe the category system could use a touch-up anyway, we have a bit of a mess with construction/industrial equipment...

Well, why add a field for that? There is already the extra info field which is made for info like that... Or you mean split the sedans in two categories rather than just "sedan"? I do not think that it is a good idea, we have already so much miscategorized vehicles between sedan/coupé, sedan/hatchback, wagon/mpv/hatchback, etc.

It is fairly clear whether a vehicle is a sedan or hardtop. Either it has a B-pillar or not!

I agree, there are so many categories with fuzzy boundaries that it is difficult to always get it right. The result is that we have misinformation on the site and that is not good.

Again, what's the problem with hardtops? They are not any harder to distniguish than a wagon from a hatchback from a sedan (esp. now that we have no "liftback" category). It is more visible than whether the tailgate includes the rear windscreen (i.e. I could easily forgive someone not familiar for mistaking an Octavia for a sedan).

I do not see what is the interest of separating them. And what about hardtop coupés?

Better categorization? In case we have two versions of a given model (common for American cars until 1970s and Japanese sedans until 1990s) it is good to categorize them as such.

Hardtop coupe is a sensible extension of the category scheme.

I still do not see the interest of that "better categorization", knowing that many will be wrongly listed (like currently: as I mentioned above there are categories with common errors).
Going so far in the details, 2-door and 4-door sedan could also be separated; 3-door and 5-door hatchback too, etc.
But that would not provide much useful info.
