Junk yards and abandoned cars

@walter - did you rescue the Audi? It looks quite good condition for a junker, and the lights work which is a promising start.

Well, it's my car
BTW it's in absolutely mint conditions (it's 18 years old right this month)

I thought it probably was - I was just being naughty. And it does look immaculate. Why do you blank out all the plates in your pictures? And where is this ghost town? Is there a story?

Why do you blank out all the plates in your pictures?

Because with just less than fifteen euros, you can see not only all the information about the vehicle (make, model, displacement engine, chassis code, etc.) but also all the personal data of the owner (name, surname, date and place of birth, place of residence) and if the car is leased/mortgaged/seized or not.
With fifty euros, more or less, you can also know all the previous owner(s) of the vehicle, useful if is a second-hand car.
Evidently also Walter takes enough care of his personal privacy...

@Walter: Am I wrong or this is the parking lot of a car repair shop or a panel beater?

Looks like that in front of the Maserati there's also one of those small electric cars used as dodgem cars... (What's the proper term in English?)

 Very promising. Please check the details.

Now it's my problem to convince my wife, when our next Scotland-trip will come, that we take again our car and the ferry, and not the plane and a rental car. She thinks about that, because it shall be cheaper.
But I like journeys on ferryboats. And I hate the restricted circumstances at flights. Plundering scrapyard-wrecks doesn't go together with the max 20kg of luggage.
And I want to buy Haggis-cans, too!

P.S. And I had to convince her to spend some time -maybe hours...- at a great place as a junkyard with classic cars...

Indeed. I would love to drag that old Series II/III Land Rover out and restore it. I just have a thing for old-timer 4x4s.

Here is a photo taken in the mid-west (?) of a Rounded-Line Chevrolet K-10 Fleetside, which some people seem to think is the fabled "Spirit of America" edition. There are a few members from oldride.com who are looking into retrieving it, in hopes of restoration. The pickup’s owner is unknown, possibly deceased.

It was left abandoned with a group of old vehicles. The one in front is said to be a Studebaker pickup – also worth saving.

De Lorean DMC 12 being consumed by flora. No further information on that car.

Another De Lorean DMC 12 was found in a abandoned garage. This one was rescued and is awaiting restoration.

And another one found in a field. This one was saved and restored.

Did he never let registrate the car? The plates are Swiss export plates.

Can you read the expiring date on the export-plate? How long it's standing there?

Unfortunately I didn't made a pic, but a dusty, abandoned looking Jaguar (forgot, which model) I've seen last year in Manhattan. It's parked on the pier, bottom floor, where the boat tours of the Circle Line http://www.circleline42.com/new-york-cruises/cruise-details.aspx?id=1 starts Pier 83, 42nd W St.

O.k. folks, our SCO-trip is booked and not only an IMCDB-user-meeting with dsl and Sandie is planned, I want to enjoy a trip to this junkyard, too.

So my question all around, as there are a plenty of unusual cars (for GB) visible, is there anyone, who is interested in specific parts, pictures or other items of any car there?
O.k., of course presumed, that I can have an access to that location and there will be possibility to pick parts.

Think about it, you have some days time. We will start Friday next week.

Not really abandoned, because for sale: http://www.myauto.by/auto/view_adv.php?adv_id=286817&fs=all&fa=4

A real rarity, not only in Belarus: a "made for DDR" Citroen GSA Pallas

The sticker on the back window is from this German insurance company http://www.huk.de/
