DPRK October 2012, pics from my travelling to North Korea
Published 21/10/2012 @ 01:47:38, By ingo
It will take a long time until I could fill up this thread with my "made for IMCDb"-photos. My travelling-fellow and me had made 2200 pics within the 13-day-trip (10 days in the DPRK), so I cannot handle them all at one time. Plus the fact, that I'm just 24 hours back home, after a return journey of 40 hours. The jetlag still causes problems and I'm unable to sort and realize mentally all my experiences right now. They had been too intensive.

So I'll start with a little step - but a hard nut for rjluna2:

Back in 2006 two T613s were usually parked next to each other near 1백화점 or what is called 'Department Store No. 1'. One was in bad condition and it seemed that they used a hammer to surface its many dents. I think they have imported many of them.

You can also see some Tatras in this music video.

@Sandie: yes, I do so. But very many things have changed in the last time. So very much, which is said in traveller's books about it (I bought all achievable in German before), is outdated.

@rjluna2: no, it is NOT a North Korean light. For that I say "hard nut" about it. Guess why

@kegare: "sodocklager", because it has a yellow plate, which is an extreme rare sight (rarer than the blue diplomatic plates) And the three other Tatra 613, I've spotted, had also yellow plates!!!

@ingo: As I mentioned that I posted to the well known lighting collection website. Hopefully, a member can read this in the forum if this is North Korean or whatever this is. The Mercury Vapor lamp sold in our market doesn't have the large resistor for the probe start on the top of bulb.

A little hint: the pic is shot in DPRK, but the bulb is US-made. There's a story behind, why this motif is located at that place.

kegare ist right.
Taking this pic was a kind of icebreaker. The local guide, a young soldier-girl and our femal guide were loughing over and over, when I told them, for what purpose I made this shot. The sildier-girl showed on the military literature, the original books from the US-stuff in one of the boards and asked, if there may collectors for that old paper, too. And was loughing again, when I said "Of course, you can make real money with that".

Now a few shots, not sorted. I'm still a bit jetlag-involved and there are too many pictures to have an immediate overview. And those of my travelling-companion have to be resized for Imageshack, too.

Those are Chinese imports. There are also quite a few Dodge Ram Wagons and Hummers there too.

I've also seen Chinese-made Ford Focuses and Transits in photos from Pyongyang.

@rjluna2: there were a few more US-Vans. A few pics will be contributed

@kegare: yes, we spotted a Hummer, too

@Gag: you can see a few Focus Sedan - but the most of them were locally assembled, to identify by the badge of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyeonghwa_Motors

Absolutely. Especially in the last 1/2, 3/4 year, as a German journalist, who had been in the DPRK in April 2012 and then again in end of September, has pointed out three weeks ago.
In that time the skirts of several girls in Pyongyang became shorter, too

Yes, a lot of Korean girls are really cuties. And they know it. The DPRK is the country of the high heels.

Thanks! http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/mghighfive.gif http://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/loki8.gif It's very touching to see how they take care of these old Dacias. No Volvo 144? http://volganeagra.blogspot.ro/2010/11/dacia-1310-in-corea-de-nord-dacia-1310.html (Under the pics, you find the english version of this article.)

When you have programmed the trip to Cuba?

Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but is there a dark red Volvo 144 between the two trolleybuses? Some of the 144s in North Korea are that colour.
