Subject: IMCDB games name

We need your help - the current situation for the long requested video games IMCDB is finally going to go ahead, it seems. Currently, myself and Rinspeed will be running it and are currently in discussion about the relevent features that it will require.

But we need a name for the project - initially I thought of IGCDB but it's not particularly memorable or catchy. I thought IGCD was a better choice, but I am sure there are some better ideas that can float around - so any suggestions?

Actually the "M" is not really relevant, as it is not question of movies here

Sorry, that was a mistake it wasn't meant to be like that. Edited.

For some reason, those letter remind me of the song In-a-godda-da-vida.

How about something simple like Game Cars Database (GCD)?

How is this going to be managed?
Because in GTA or NFS everyone can put their self-made cars in...

Maybe you can convert the music video's to igdb too :boidleau:

only officialy cars of the game on the site, or official pack but not self-made cars

Basically, the rules will be that there will be no modded cars allowed but fictional cars will be. For example, the many cars in GTA will be submitted under their custom names - but the licensed car that they are all based on will also be submitted.

For the completely fictional cars, i.e. Flatout, Burnout etc, they will simply be a "made for video game" car, with their custom name attached as well.

I can't wait, epsecially for FlatOut, Destroy All Humans and GTA. In San Andreas, there is a Tempo-based car!! I think it was the "Primo", it was a 92' Tempo GLS because, under the hood is a V6.

I am looking forward to running it - it's been a bit overdue but I think it will be a very worthwhile and interesting website for gaming fans like myself

It will be cool. I wonder if a lot of people from IMCDb (the origenal) will go on it. I will as soon as it is open. It will also be much easier for contributions, because you can basically search Google Images for pictures of the cars in video games, instead of having to get them fron the console.

As an update, Rinspeed will be offline for a few days due to some Internet problems (moving house apparentlly), but some of the coding for the site is done. It is basically a modified version of IMCDB with the same layout but different colour schemes. I have also produced the banner for it - it is the same as IMCDB but red with a Need For Speed BMW poking out

Thanks  I tried to replicate the IMCDB logo with the new colour scheme.

Sweet  . Any particular reason you picked the BMW? Good choice though  .

Um mainly because Need For Speed is quite a popular series, and that is the cover car for the latest, Need For Speed Most Wanted. I was tempted to have a number of vehicles on it but I think it looks better on the simple side and resemble IMCDB

Yes, that is true. NFS is probably the most famous racing game anyway. I only have Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
