You forgot a choice "If cartoons stay, scale models stay"

I'm not talking about cartoons, I'm talking about models.
13/02/2007 @ 21:59:07: antp: Include Model Cars?
Yes, but IMHO if we accept cartoons we could accept model cars, as long as they have a role.
13/02/2007 @ 23:53:23: wickey: Include Model Cars?
but honestly - what kind of role model / photo could possibly have  - only in case, the movie is with model-like characters  - that is in what the cartoons are different - there the whole world is animated, therefor it is ok to include them IMO.

Well, I think we should keep the models because they're usually a perfect replication of the real thing, unlike cartoons. But still, I think it'd be a shame if we had deleted all the cartoon cars on the site. Some are quite impressive, like the ones in Riding Bean.

Some of the models shown are better representations of real cars than some of the miniatures used in old movies. Some of the cartoons are quite realistic but many of the ones listed are only approximate at best. If we continue to list them we should probably have some rules. Maybe something like a minimum number of details that should be readily visible.

That could be a good compromise.

I think this one is a good example of a model car that "should" be included/kept.

It's been awhile since I've seen "Tommy Boy", so I'm not sure how those models are used. I know when I was doing "Ghost Whisperer" there was a scene where a boy has a bunch of remote control trucks, one he controlled as a ghost...i thought about including, but didn't. so i'm 50/50 on it...but kinda like my thoughts on background cards...if it looks like the car, and can be identified easily, then I say "yes".

Alright, how about we allow model cars as long as they are noticeably "used", no background model cars.

And I like having cartoon cars listed on this site as long as they are clearly identifiable.

I think we should just post models in the comments.

How about a new site International Model Data base (IMDB). Itdoesn't have to be model cars from films it could just be a model car "finder" like on antp's website.
01/09/2007 @ 11:48:29: antp: Include Model Cars?
IMDB name is already used

oh Really? Where about? I'm sure there could be other names, like MCDB (Model car data base), if that hasn't been used already
01/09/2007 @ 15:21:49: crazyforcars12: Include Model Cars?
of course, the International Movie Database........
03/09/2007 @ 19:11:10: G-MANN: Include Model Cars?
It's called the INTERNET Movie Database.

I think this is where bias enters into this. I can understand why people are against cartoon cars (because they are just drawings not real vehicles) but I really like cartoon sitcoms like The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Futurama, Beavis and Butthead and Family Guy, as well as Japanese anime films, so I'd like to see them stay on this site. But with model cars, I know a few members collect model cars so they might like to see model cars listed (and admittedly they resemble a real car more accurately than cartoon drawings do). But I think the thing is a car in a cartoon can be driven by cartoon characters and it has more of a role than a model car usually does in a live-action film.

Model cars, if they have a role

In Gumball Rally Raul Julia drives a model car over a naked girl's curves, so should be included
