I think, you only wrote this to annoy us, eh?

Didn't know you used this as well, poor K70 :ddr555: (just joking  )

No, the only cars, where air-fresheners are belonging originally, are dirty junk-wrecks, owned by poor and dirty people (smokers anyways), who let old pizza-boxes, dog-pillows and empty beer-cans rotting inside.

They're useless anyway, a friend of mine has a BMW that used to belong to his granddad, who used to smoke a lot inside of it and the smell won't ever leave, as he said to me precisely yesterday he had spent countless types of air fresheners and none of them is able to get rid of the unbearable smoke smell.
27/06/2009 @ 10:39:43: antp: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Air fresheners just cover the original odor, so in best case it works more or less for a limited time, but often it just gives an awful mix of odors.
There are some spray products that really remove odors from seats etc. (product itself is odor-less), and work already much better for cases like that. We used that in a car, not sure which one (either the Renault 11 bought second-hand, or a renting motorhome... it is too far away in my memory)

Yes you're very right there Antoine, i remember my dad bought (when we still had the Orion) a Lemon one, it was kind of a bottle and he used to hide it somewhere, i don't remember where, i got rid of it as soon as i could, the mix of smell in the car was unbearable and would make me feel sick even before starting the trip to wherever we would go.

Sometimes even the hardest chemicals like Febreeze or so doesn't help to get rid off the smell.
Old-fashioned recepies can help, too. For example to put a dish with vinegar or lemon-slices into the car.

If it's really worse, a professional ozone-treatment helps. This is often used to get rid off the smell in houses after it has burned in there.

Once I've irritated the neighbours, when I've flooded my Omega with the garden-hose. It was urgent necessary, because half a liter of strawberry-buttermilk was leaking out of the shopping-bag. :ohwell:
The Omega's trunk-mat is made from quite thick felt-cloth (at least pressed, torn old clothes), which is worst in such cases. The only way is cleaning it with a plenty of water. I've hung the wet mat on an iron-bar in my parent's garden, it took three days until it was dry again - and it was summer with 30 degrees...
Unfortunately some of the strawberry-milk (for my wife, I don't like that) leaked further, underneath the back seat. So I've put out the back seats and all plastic and cloth-interior from the trunk and around the back seat. Then I took the garden-hose and let it running.

I was intelligent enough to look before, how to get the water out of the car again. There are some rubber-knobs on the bottom, where paint and conservation-oil was dripping out in the factory.

Annother tip for all around to avoid worst-case-sitiuations: if you are driving with some drunken friends in your car, let the most drunken one, or that guy, who is known for un-controlled puking-ups never ever sit on the front passenger's seat!!! Always in the back. If anyone throws up into the dashboard-vents and the climate-system, you can bring the car to the junkyard!!

Today I went to the Merc dealer in the city (mainly to gawk at the cars, but also they have a tower of smart cars, 8 high, on display. pics for that later). But we were perousing the dealer, and a spotted my first real life sighting of a Maybach. A very beutiful 57S.
05/07/2009 @ 10:41:46: ingo: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Yesterday I went to the canal nearby our village for a swim. The other car on the small parking beside the street was a 1st gen. Buick Park Avenue.
I think, it's remarkable, because it's a quite rare car over here.

Am I right, that the Park Avenue was at least the only GM-car of the last decades, which was sold in Europe under the name of Buick?
05/07/2009 @ 11:02:55: antp: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
There is also the Buick Regal coupé model of which I posted three. But both are about the same year range.
05/07/2009 @ 11:11:24: ingo: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Perhaps the Regal Coupé was sold in Belgium, but as I know, never in Germany

P.S. I saw annother US car while swimming in the canal, a brand new Ford Mustang (German plates) lashed onboard an iron-ore-ship.
07/07/2009 @ 20:23:06: ingo: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Today I saw the new Seat for the first time, the model, which bases on the previous Audi A 4.

18/07/2009 @ 04:01:27: atom: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Today I saw, Swedish, Norwegian, Dannish, Finnish, German, Netherlands, Belgian, Italian, Romanian, Austrian and one unknown plate (some east european plate I belive).
19/07/2009 @ 11:41:13: ingo: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Haha, how funny - yesterday I saw plates of exactly these countries, too, plus some British.
And this just along 40 km of the Autobahn A 3 North from Düsseldorf to our home.

The main reason for that is probably, that this is a weekend in the summer-vacation, which are running now everywhere.

We were wondering a bit about a van with British plates, because there was a complete skiing equipment on the roof.

I had time for looking, because I had to drive slowly. Omega and trailer were loaded with firewood, we got for free from a colleague. Not the worst thing, to chuggle along with 95 km/h and let the others dashing.

Hey Antp, we can make a topic called "sightings demand" in which we ask at the others users, a car that we would want to see.

For example, if you desires to see a Lancia Beta Montecarlo, you write the demand on this topic and me or another user show you an exemplary found on the road...
