Seen on holiday at Bastia's port in Corsica, GMC Sierra 2500 HD with camper box:

Indeed, a 2003-2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Extended Cab

Nice all-terrain camper. However, it’s a base 4x4 model, which means it is fitted with only necessary four-wheel drive components.

Conventional four-wheel drive with two-speed dual range transfer case and permanent 50/50 torque distribution are included.

Available off road features like underbody off road skid-plate armor, off road tuned shock absorbers, and rear automatic differential lock (ADL) are optional extras. They are fitted as standard only with the Z71 off road package. So this 4x4 pickup may or may not have all those extra off road features.

Long ago, GM offered factory all-terrain campers, the Blazer Chalet and Jimmy Casa Grande.

not necessarily rare or special but I was sad to see this 630 CS on it's way to the scrapyard today being towed by a Jeep Cherokee. The body looked as if it was in pretty good shape. The license plates expired in 1991.

I recently saw an episode of Wheeler Dealers on Discovery, in which a 635csi was restored. The presenters, needing a better interior - seats, doorcards, etc. - acquired quite a nice-looking MOT failure as a donor car, which however was completely rotten underneath. That's probably what has happened here.
27/09/2011 @ 21:47:54: t0nkatracker: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
^ maybe, maybe not. The engine was gone from the car so i figured someone used this as a donor for another. The sad thing around here is that the last few years the price of scrap metal has gotten so high that cars are being crushed that otherwise shouldn't be, last year alone I watched a excavator pick up a decent looking 70's Dodge Challenger and crush it (that was hard to see) I have also seen people drive running cars over the scales at the scrapyard...

@ Neptune: very nice original brochures; do you collect them?
30/09/2011 @ 05:03:08: Neptune: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
No I don’t collect them, but there are a couple of websites that collect original sales brochures and documentation for GM’s rounded-line generation of pickups and utilities. Two of the sites are dedicated exclusively for rounded-lines. Anything that is related to a rounded-line, they likely have it.

The Old Car Manual Project has a varied collection of rounded-line advertisements. But they also have advertisements for many different types of classic cars/trucks.

73-87.com has original GM ads for both pre facelifted and post facelifted pickups and utilities. It’s dedicated to rounded-lines only.

Brochures has a comprehensive collection of rounded-line advertisements. I use this site all the time. Like 73-87.com, it too is dedicated to rounded-lines pickups and utilities.

I own a rounded-line pickup which I’m restoring, so I research these sites for restoration purposes. They are a great way of being able to see what the vehicles looked like when they were new, how the colours appeared, what options were available from GM, what was not available from GM, and so on.

@A1797: :hello: to Iceland  Aren't you from Akureyri? If yes, do you know, if Mr.Gudnasson still has his K 70? Probably not. We got his adress in 1989 or so and have never heard anything from him or his car again.

Here some more catches from my vacations

Hotel-garage in Victoria B.C.:

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7122/img040616.th.jpg

The whole time there I'd been alert to find the following motif for my plate-fellows. For 3 1/2 weeks and more than 4500 km I'd been without success, although we'd been up North up to Prince George, the Hamiltons and Prince Rupert.
On the 3rd last day, nearby the cheap pizzaman in Victoria I've spotted:

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/2420/img04065.th.jpg

And on the very last day, back in Vancouver, this, just in the first parkbox of the garage of the Museum of Anthropology:

There was a little anecdote with the red N.W.T-Toyota. When I made the pics, two ladies behind me, mother and daughter, have shouted "This guys is taking pics of our car!" -which wasn't true, their car was the red cars three parkboxes away- and the sprinted to their vehicle. They hadn't bought a parking-ticket, so they'd thought I'm the ticket-hunter from the Municipal police  When I've passed their car, I've told them, why I made the photos, but they obviously hadn't understand it. The only had been happy, that I'm not an official guy.
P.S.My alleged official uniform was the light blue polo-shirt from the 2006 "Creme 21" rallye... :ohwell:

After I took this pic for rtsbusman1997 and a Crown Vic-fan in my plate-forum:

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8464/img040323.th.jpg

I've spotted just 20 meters away (behind the Mountie-Pick Up) this motif for the plate-freaks:

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2702/img040324.th.jpg

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/7170/img040325.th.jpg

And then, 20 meters more down the street, this marvellous scenery

http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/7029/img040328.th.jpg

A propos Veteran's plates, isn't that a rare sight, too?

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/7108/img0288s.th.jpg

In my plate-collector-forum we have a thread "long way from home", where we post spotted cars, coming from really far away. I've added these pics:

Penticton/Okanagan Valley:

http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/7320/img0556z.th.jpg

Athabasca Glacier/Columbia Icefields:

http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5555/img0622sh.th.jpg

No pics, because they'd been in oncoming traffic, I've from two other motorhomes, one from Esslingen/Germany (ES-plate) and annother from Bern/Switzerland (BE-plate). And there were three motorbikes in heavy rain, which had European plates, too. But I couldn't identify, if French, German or Italian.
