what could a dealership do with older than 15 years cars??
What are you talking about? There are tons of people who just need transportation at a low price, there's tons of dealers that sell those type of cars, no need for them to be crushed if they could be used by someone and make them happy to just have a car and be able to go places.
By that logic your saying that my car should have been crushed, and I know you don't think that...
Inspections are rather to keep you safe in case the car has something wrong than to make people crush their cars.

Yes but those dealerships only sell that, used cars, one-brand dealerships don't want that-old cars, Renault for example has what they call "Renault OcasiĆ³n" in where they sell second hand cars but of course never that old, so they wouldn't be that interested, of course as i said above if you have a car that you know worths mroe than what they are going to give you for it then you go and find yourself a buyer that will give you more for the car and that it will likely preserve it, but if not? why not giving (like i said above, for example) a first series Renault 19? who's going to give you more than 1.000€ for a car like that?
With this i'm not saying that it should be crushed, but it's just logical that people prefere this "option" in where they'll get more moeny than what the car really worths.

When have i said that any car should be crushed? i just said that the system works like that and that many of the cars they crush aren't any jewels to keep, there might be exceptions, but the big majority don't run well and may be in a bad shape.

And what does that has to do with inspecting your vehicle every several years? (we've talked about this before but oh well) but with inspections they look for everything, oil leaks, problems in the engine, problems with lights, problems of pollution, they just make sure everything on the car works perfectly they also make sure that people tunning their cars have every part as legal.

I prefer to have inspections than seeing such things on the road:
The text says that the car was stopped by Austrian police. A Romanian family was going from Italy to Romania with this Opel Senator.
The driver said "it is a little damaged".

That car is one in a million. I've never seen anything that's anywhere near that bad. But even so, notice that the car did nothing wrong besides looking bad.
Still, for most people when car gets to be anywhere near that bad they will stop driving it. Those people are proabably just really poor and that's the only thing they had. Though they did go a little overboard with the tape, I can see how they easily could have used less.

I just don't see that FIAT has very much that would be of use to Chrysler.
Maybe if Plymouth hadn't been canceled there'd be somewhere to put the imports, but Chrysler is supposed to make luxury cars and Dodge is supposed to make performance cars (like Pontiac, this doesn't mean they actually do). They need big engines and big platforms, Mercedes was a good partner for this reason (and a bad one for many other reasons).
It's even worse for Jeep, already hurting from ill-advised diversification and platform sharing. What are they going to do with it now, is there a single competent off road vehicle anywhere in the FIAT group?
Thinking of Mercedes again, doesn't the Jeep Commander look a lot like a G Wagen? That would have been a worthwhile rebadge. With FIAT, they have... I donno. Maybe the 159 would make a good small Chrysler, if it weren't so expensive. The Punto or Bravo could be a new Neon-type car, if it's engines weren't so small.
I really don't know the FIAT group's cars very well, can anyone think of any platforms that would fit the image of Dodge or Chrysler and remain cost effective? (for example, putting an 8L V10 in a rebodied 599 GTB would not be cost effective. Just awesome.)

aah, forget these ideas. these associations of brand-names with their products is obsolete today.
just look at chevrolet. gm has reached the worst reputation-crash during the last years. what stands the name "chevrolet" for in the past, what is it now? This crushing down began in the 80ies -compare a mid-80ies pontiac le mans with one of the early 60ies- and was getting worse year-by-year.
do you know, what is sold under the brand "chevrolet" right now over here in europe? except a very few (unknown and unpopular) us-vehicles, chevrolets are rebadged korean daewoos! no kidding, they took the name chevrolet, because the name daewoo had a bad reputation, especially since daewoo europe was going bankrupcy.
chevrolets in south america are rebadged german opels today.
total bizarre: in russia they are selling now the ancient, antique lada niva-jeep from soviet-times (still based on the 1966 fiat 124 resp.its 1970+ lada-derivate) as chevrolet.
can it be going worse with such a destroying of a brand-reputation?
by th way: a colleague is always pissed, when i am asking him, if his car is closer to a dawoo matiz, an opel corsa or a lada niva. he drives a 1989 corvette.

Chevrolet has been the cheapest brand marketed by GM for much of their history, rebadging Daewoos doesn't weaken their brand image, it reinforces it.
Anyway, I'm not concerned with Chevrolet becoming a marketing branch of Daewoo, I
am concerned that Chrysler is about to do something stupid again. I really like Dodges and Jeeps, and I don't want to see those brands dragged down by the Chrysler corporation's monstrous and persistant idiocy.

@antoine: the engine and the most other technical parts at the saab 9000 were coming from the opel omega.
by the way: the well known and reliable diesel-engines of the volvo's from the 80ies are original volkswagen. they were coming from the lt-transporter. a swedish friend has shown me the vw/audi-badge on the engine of his father's 500 000 km-volvo 740 diesel.
and he told me, that it was -still is?- forbidden, that a vw-garage makes some repairs. you had to go to volvo.

The
Saab 9000 was indeed related to the Fiat Croma:
The Type Four chassis, upon which the 9000 was based, was shared with the Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema and the Alfa Romeo 164. The Fiat and Lancia looked much like the Saab, but the Alfa Romeo only shared the chassis. Because they were very similar, many parts can be exchanged between the four cars regardless of brand. For example, the doors from the Fiat Croma fit directly on the 9000, but are lighter, due to less side impact protection. The windshield from the Croma can also be used on the 9000. This type of windshield gives a safe driver visibility.
The
second-generation Saab 900 (not 9000) used the
GM2900 platform, as did the
first-generation 9-3 (the facelifted version of the second-generation 900) and the
9-5.
