It's a 1973 Lincoln Continental Mark IV. I picked it up from southern Sweden and drove it back to Finland (c.750km). It has a 7,5 liter engine (460cid.) with 202hp and 480Nm of torque. 3-speed automatic transmission (C6). Double exhaust pipes give nice sound

Now that's a real looker. congrats on a nice find.
I especially love the hidden headlights, if only cars could still have them today.

Wow, that's a good upgrade compared to the Aspen
Is it its old original US plate visible on the rear?
How many liters of gas for these 750km?

Now see, that disgusts me. Taxiguy finds a Dodge 600 in excellent condition and now, Raul1983 finds a handsome Lincoln in excellent condition. I could never find a car like that (in mint condition) The best I could find would be one with dents, scratches and not running properly because the owner never took good care of it. My luck just isn’t that good.

Anyway, congratulations on the car, Raul. It’s a fine automobile. The C6 Transmission is still a popular transmission. Its highly praised among car enthusiasts and mechanics.

Will there be any trouble to register it in Finland?

Don't laugh but I have been looking for a Volga 21 some time now and I guess they are more common in Finland so I have thought of importing one some time...

It's in a good working condition but still a lot of things need to be fixed. Exterior, paint, tires, interior and seats are in very good condition. Underneath of the car is also very clean. The car was brought from Texas a couple of years back so there is no rust in the body. It was driven by an old man who kept the car for many years. Because the car hasn't been used much it needs some care now.

Carburetor and brakes must be adjusted before I can continue driving.

Fuel consumption on the highway was OK, about 15 liters/100km. So two full tanks of gas consumed on the trip. But if you drive it with a heavy foot I'm sure it's easy to double that figure.

Is it meant to susbtitute the Aspen?

Dayyy-um! :wam: You're rollin' in style now Raul :sol:

The ultimate 70s style car. Have fun with her.

But I would also like to know what happened/will happen to the Aspen?
12/05/2009 @ 22:12:11: ingo: I bought a new car !
Congratulations, Raul!

@Max, @Neptune: Sweden is a good country to find US-cars, because they had been always popular there, more than in other European countries.
O.k., this one was imported from the USA as an used car, so it's not in the famous "norrbottenkörd"-style.
- a Swedish word, which I know (also "bilskrotning" and bildemontering") It means, that the car was driven i nthe far North, where it's too cold to use salt in the winter. These cars are always good - but unfortunately very rare, because not many people are living over there.

@Neptune, a tip from me after 19 years being a K 70-fan and after 30 years as a plate-collector:
You will find "your" car, surely. Prhaps not now, but later.
With patience, good connections and some luck (but not neccessarily much money), you will sooner or later get everything, you were looking for.

That is an awesome car! Luxury at its finest.
15/05/2009 @ 14:23:15: G-MANN: I bought a new car !
That is quite a car, Raul!

By the way, for those of us in the UK and USA 15 litres per 100 kilometres is 18.8mpg (UK gallons)

Not bad for a car like that. Though I'm sure the city mileage is closer to about 9 or 10
15/05/2009 @ 15:21:01: antp: I bought a new car !
Google gives 15.68 mpg, US gallons I suppose.

 Nice car. I like it. Fuel consumption was my first thought too but I guess you're not using it as a daily driver.

Is it meant to susbtitute the Aspen?

Well, not really. I use Aspen for my daily driving and Mark IV on weekends. But I have realized that filling up two American cars is too much for my economy. I think I'll fix some details in the Aspen and then sell it. It will be a sad moment. If only I would have a large garage where to keep cars but I don't.

When I bought the Lincoln I knew it was a special car. But still I wasn't ready for the attention which was to follow. Neighbours, friends, work collegues; everyone want's to have a ride in the car. It is registered for six so there's room for plenty of people. Double exhaust pipes really enhance the sound of V8 engine. One slip of the throttle and everyone within 100m radius turn their heads.

I wen't to register the car and was told that rear brakes are not functioning. With the old cars there's always some little details which need to be fixed

Thanks for the response  if only i could buy your Aspen :ange: with having several cars the problem is always the space where to put them, i don't think i'd sleep tranquile if my car was outsie and not in a garage
29/05/2009 @ 23:03:57: ingo: I bought a new car !
Don't you live not far away from the ocean? There you have problems with the salty air, so you have to take care more of your car.
29/05/2009 @ 23:29:22: CarChasesFanatic: I bought a new car !
You mean me? or Raúl?
30/05/2009 @ 22:52:09: ingo: I bought a new car !
I mean you.

Even if Raul would live closer to the sea, it's not that bad, because the Baltic Sea has less salt -especially up in the Finland-area- than the Atlantic Ocean or the North Sea.
