congratulations guys

By the way, I wonder if it is useful to display all these page numbers... (does somebody have a good idea for displaying that in a better way?)

maybe just next and previous buttons should be enough - as with every other new site the number of the older one is changing, it is impossible to find the older comment exact by it.

Ya, or have a history page and just list the last 10 on the last comments page

I have 2 suggestions on enhancing usability/layout:
1. Arrange that "kind of car" menu horizontally, not vertically:
* All * Cars * Bikes * Trucks * Bus * Others * Uncategorized
It eats enough space, and I'm sure there are people with less than the 1600x1200 pixels I run my display at (at 100 Hz, an older 21" Eizo F930 CRT, by the way)
2. The other one is about the 1000 pages of comments. If it's possible to get this out of the PHP/MySQL, I would suggest arranging the comment pages like the following. Keeping the first 50 pages easily accessible, and perhaps some subpages for the others.
1 2 3 [...] 49 50 - 51 to 100 - 101 to 200 - 201 to 300 - [...] - etc.
I can't think about anybody reading more than a few dozens of the comments pages. Any other user who hasn't to kill tons of spare time, will use the search function, for sure.
Best, Mathias

1. you mean for the "unknown" page? Yes it may look better with an horizontal list...
2. I planned to do something like that, i.e. not display all the numbers but only those that could be useful.
I just have to find time to do it

I had few time, so I did it: the list of page numbers on comments page is now a little smaller

We should have a history, or archive page where it displays history of the website itself, past administrators and current administrators, constant users, number of movies etc.

A page describing the history of the site is planned.
For the history of number of vehicles/movies, there is a topic "statistics" on the forum.

site is pretty expanding - as it has twice amount of comments for 4 months..

Yes, as you say the site is expanding... I think that next weekend some maintenance will be required as there is about 200 MB remaining on the server. I'll have to change a setting on OVH configuration to have 20 GB instead of 2 GB (as I mentionned somewhere else), and for that I'll have to "lock" the site, i.e. prevent any change (including comments) for one day or something like that.
Anyway I'll put this week a message on the forum and on the site with all the details, so nobody miss it

... may not be the right place, but I'd prefer not to open another topic for maybe something stupid...
I've been wanting to ask whether new pics from films should be listed in the forum and from there trasferred to the site and commented or straight in the comments ... I mean if I link a pic in the 'comments' page what difference does it make compared to link it in the appropriate post in the forum?
I'm trying to understand which way is the "correct" one
25/08/2006 @ 19:37:21: wickey: 1000 pages of comments :)
hmmm.. I donĀ“t get your point
- do you Antoine?
25/08/2006 @ 20:22:56: antp: 1000 pages of comments :)
I am not sure to understand...
You mean suggesting cars to add in the comments on imcdb rather than here on the forum ?
It is much easier for use to send new cars through the forum rather than through the comments.
One special case: extra picture for a car, these can be posted directly in the comments, like what admins would do.
Same for extra vehicles identical to a vehicle already listed.
I am not sure that my reply is very clear either
27/08/2006 @ 09:26:14: leolito: 1000 pages of comments :)
Instead I got it right, sorry that I was not very clear.
Se the easiest and best way to propose new vehicles/movies is throught the forum, and eventual added shots and/or new things coming up after can go directly in the 'comments' ... right?
27/08/2006 @ 12:10:44: antp: 1000 pages of comments :)
- new movie -> forum
- new vehicles for a movie -> forum
- one picture for a vehicle already listed but that does not have a picture yet, or to replace a bad picture -> forum
- additional pictures for an existing vehicle that already has a good picture -> comments
- other vehicle identical to one already listed for the movie with a picture -> comments
27/08/2006 @ 18:12:49: leolito: 1000 pages of comments :)
crystal clear!
