Today I have read that this branding will also be used on other AMG cars (this was in relation to the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GLE 63). This raises a question for our database, should we use the Mercedes-AMG (and also the Mercedes-Maybach) makes or could this be deemed a needless complication?

I'd say it is fine, if that's how they are supposed to be called.
As long as we know clearly to which models that new name applies (only new models starting now, I guess).
