Misidentified tanks
Published 28/05/2012 @ 11:22:17, By Evil Tim
Looking over the IDs for Centurions, a lot of them are actually the three vismod Chieftain tanks owned by a Cali outfit called Army Trucks Inc.

The most obvious difference between the vismod Centurion (Cradle 2 the Grave and Courage Under Fire) and these vehicles is that the Chieftain's driver's hatch is mounted in the middle of the hull directly under the main gun, while the Centurion's is offset to the right of the hull.

Here in Cradle 2 the Grave you can see the Centurion's driver's periscopes on the right (the tank's right) under the turret...

Here in D-War you can see two Chieftain-vismods with open hatches. The large V/U-shaped splashguard on the glacis plate is also a big sign this is a Chieftain. Other distinctions are the larger main gun, the fume extractor mounted over halfway along the barrel rather than on the first third (incorrect for an Abrams but necessary to hide the Chieftain's real fume extractor) and the ribs on the front of the sponsons which are dividers for the removed storage boxes.

AT Inc Chieftain is misidentified as a Centurion on Jarhead, Jericho, Hulk, Iron Man, Cloverfield, Southland Tales, The Day the Earth Stood Still, D-War and Malcolm in the Middle, and as an Abrams on The Kingdom.
