Just thought I'd share this with you all:

BTW you'll note that the illustration in the jokes panel is of a Moskvich

Yes, the red car is a Moskvich. The yellow license plate looks like from Cuba.
Anyway, in Germany LADA was never gone. But they sell only a couple of cars a year.
Weird to me is that Renault is bringing LADA back. Because Renault already offers cheap Dacia cars.

Ladas were available in Finland untill 2009. Last few years sales declined dramatically to about 100 cars a year. In 2008-2009 models 117 and 119 were for sale but only for few months. Last year only the Niva was offered. The importer of Ladas - Delta-Auto - ran into financial difficulties in 2009 and was reorganized. This meant that Alfa Romeo/Fiat agency was handed to another group called AutoFennica which already had Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep agency. Thus AutoFennica became the first importer in Europe to have Chrysler and Fiat agencies in same house. Delta-Auto cancelled - temporarily I hope - importing of Ladas and Lancias and now focuses on Kia.

Here is Ladas Finnish website. It says: at the moment new Lada cars are not delivered.

I guess that there are "funny" cases like that everywhere. Here in Belgium it is Saab & Mazda which were imported by the same company until recently (now Mazda does it directly itself), even if the two makes are not related.

I think I read somewhere that Delta still does have a deal for importing Ladas, but it doesn't have a deal for any cars to be delivered from the factory this year  I hope they will continue importing Ladas, although I'd never want to own one myself
For Lancia, I think that AutoFennica is focusing on building up a dealer network for Fiat and Alfa Romeo first, before starting sales of the less popular Lancia.
