Great! Thanks for your hard work

Out of curiosity, how many photos and how many GB are stored now?

Also, I noticed that imageshack photos appear to have kept their original sizes, even if they were larger than 960x498. I like that but I'm not sure if that was your intent.

Quick :king:

Main pictures are separated
And if I upload them, I have to provide some file search possibility: it is useful to find a file based on its name, but a listing of thousands of files would be too much

Well, I think upload of the backuped main images doesn't make any sense, plus someone can use them to add cars already deleted (for being too small etc.)

I mean uploading imageshack backup.
I won't upload deleted main images

@owlman > I'll see the size of that when I'll backup all that on my local PC this weekend, I haven't checked that yet
About picture size, indeed, it was more work to also include all the resizing stuff. I'll resize the biggest ones later.

Size of pictures backuped from imageshack: 11.6 GB
For comparison,
size of pictures currently uploaded by users in comments: 161 MB (in two weeks)
size of main pictures of vehicle pages: 15.9 GB (last week)

congratulation to Weasel1984 who made me discover a flaw in my image hosting system: if you upload two files with the same name but in a different case, it is considered as a different one as on Linux systems the names are case-sensitive
i.e. these are two different images:
http://pics.imcdb.org/1306/MBW1231.jpg
http://pics.imcdb.org/1306/MBw1231.jpg
but I can't backup that properly because on Windows I can't have two files with the same name, even if the case differs... I'll have to find a workaround for the backup... or simply force all names to lowercase

One other failure I experienced: (very rare case, i wouldn't bother fixing it  )

I wanted to make a thumbnail of a forum attachment, but it says it's not a valid image when I give the uploader the link.

I've started to get some pics ready for uploading & will attempt the new system within the next few days

I think this was already not working with imageshack, I am not sure that the forum allows other sites to fetch its pictures.

You have 24302 photos stored. Since you're over the 500 photo limit you'll need to upgrade to a Premium account or you'll only be able to keep 500 of your recent photos. Older photos will expire on the 1st of April.

It gives one more time to backup the few that couldn't have been backuped due to non-responding servers, that's good
(or if I missed some, as for example I forgot to backup some pictures used elsewhere than IMCDb)

I saved about 100 pictures from my account not replaced by antp in first attempt.

Hmm for such cases better report them to me, maybe there is a bug
In this case, I wonder why the images are on "a.imageshack.us" and not a "img-something.imageshack.us"... I'll remake a pass on all pictures for that.

Almost all the thumbs for this movie are still on Imageshack:

It seems to be the same case (thumbnails on "a.imageshack.us"), they will be processed in the next pass
edit: I ran the script just on that one, indeed they were converted this time

Small discovery: since the pics folder seems to be linked to each user (I get folder 3321 regardless of movie) maybe it should be manageable, because I'd rather clean up some unnecessary files. (re-uploads and such)
26/03/2012 @ 10:18:14: antp: Replacement of imageshack
Indeed there is a folder for each user, but that's mentioned in the message where I presented that picture upload thing
That number is the user ID in the database, the latest you arrived on the site the highest is your number (hence why my pics are in the folder "2" )
Managing pictures will maybe be added some day, but do not worry about unnecessary files: I'll write a script which will delete the pics not used in any comment.

Ok, great.

Thumbs for this movie are still on Imageshack, probably due to the PNG format I guess:
