antp can you explain why we use generational codes for the Ford Expedition?

i'm still waiting for that answer too ...

( unless of course the answer is now a deleted comment that i missed )

Good question, no idea. If it is not common to refer to these by generation I can clean that if you want, but maybe first I should batch-update them putting a model year + code for those that have just the generation number but are missing these other info?

Peugeot 406 Coupé uses [8C] as chassis code

Edit: and the Break uses [8E]

Done. The Ambulance seems based on a Break too, but for the two Funebre I don't know, I left the code of the sedan.

VW Lupos should be origin Spain as the Arosa came first in March 1997. The Lupo was introduced in October 1998.

But isn't it a model conceived by the VW group itself rather than Seat?
As the first Arosa models were made in Germany apparently, and the VW version was already planned.

@antp Yes you can add the default years for the generational codes and the I can go through them and update as needed. Then you can remove the code  m
Smart move!

Not many had the mk field without chassis, it seems. I updated the chassis field and removed the mk field, I can mass-update the years if needed (or you can check them first if you prefer).
31/10/2021 @ 20:36:41: dhill_cb7: Mass change model info thread
I can check them. Not a problem. Gracias antp

All Bronco 1972-1996 carry [U15] which is the change I am asking for. Prior to 1972 1966-1971 there were three style [U13] roadster, [U14] half cab and [u15] Wagon.

Vins confirm these codes.

What do I have to update exactly?
(i.e. change what to what, with which criteria)
If there is no "rule" to change the code except checking them visually, that has to be done manually
08/11/2021 @ 20:45:12: dhill_cb7: Mass change model info thread
Sorry I was confusing. After 1972 all Bronco carry [U15] for a chassis code as there was only one body style left.

1966-1968 Roadster is [U13].
1966-1972 Half Cab (name changed at least once) is [U14].
1966-1996 Wagon is [U15].

I was asking if you could add [U15] to the 1973- 1996 models  I can post VINs if anyone needs confirmation.

OK, it is more clear now  Done

@antp can you please add the chassis code [J309] for the 2011-2018 (1st gen) Chevrolet Orlando?

Confirmed by checking the part sites below.

https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/chevrolet/mep/
https://www.123spareparts.co.uk/car-brands/chevrolet/orlando-j309-parts

Not as reliable but also listed on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Orlando

Done
https://www.imcdb.org/search.php?resultsStyle=asList&sortBy=2&yearFrom=&yearTo=&makeMatch=- 2&make=Chevrolet&modelMatch=1&model=Orlando&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=o- n&mk=&origin=&madein=&madefor=&role=

We only have 1st-gen models it seems on the site
These two were listed with MPV7 code:
https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=1264505
https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=1271446
but I suppose it was not right then?
(listing them here just in case)
Also, what about the two concepts entries?
15/11/2021 @ 06:24:07: dhill_cb7: Mass change model info thread
Not sure what that old code was? Never heard of it. I guess we could apply the cod to the concepts?
26/11/2021 @ 15:50:44: dhill_cb7: Mass change model info thread
@antp can you please remove the [U15] code from the Bronco II. The [U15] code was only for the full size Bronco. This code does not apply to the smaller Bronco II that was 1984-1990. That smaller SUV was based off the Ranger platform and I do not believe the internal code has been discovered yet.
26/11/2021 @ 15:56:42: 48bux: Mass change model info thread
Can you also add [141A] as chassis code for Seat Panda, Seat Panda Terra and Seat Trans? Thanks in advance

Looks like the Highlander was built in Japan through the 2009 model year for the regular model, a mix of Japan and US built ones for model year 2010, and all USA (Indiana; not Ohio, that's Honda) after that. The Hybrids continued to be built in Japan until the 2013 model year, for my 2014+ they were made in Indiana.

As far as Origin, looks like the latest model (2014+, XU50) was designed in the US, and is no longer made in Japan.

Revisting the Toyota Highlander, I think the 2nd generation (XU40) should also be "Origin: USA". Looking into it, the second generation was designed at the Calty Studios in California by Ian Cartabiano (who is now head of Toyota ED2, the European Design Studio), and was not sold in Japan, just the US, Canada and Australia (as the Kluger). I would leave the "Built In" alone, as they started off in Japan and then production moved to the US, as outlined above. Unless anyone can think of a reason to keep in "Origin: Japan"?
