Subject: Problem with ipad air

I am unable to download properly when using my ipad air. the system lets me log in but won't fully download the first data page, or let me click anywhere. Since the laptop is working fine I assume it's the ipad, but I wondered if anyone else has encountered such a problem.

Cheers

Do you have the problem just on the home page? Or on any page?
17/02/2017 @ 12:12:02: Johnfromstaffs: Problem with ipad air
I can log in on the home page and get to the first page of unidentified vehicles, but it downloads only as far as the 3rd or 4th line of pictures and then freezes. If I scroll the screen down, the last row of pictures is only half downloaded, and there is a blank area below it. The only option open then is to leave the site.

I should add that the ipad is working fine for all the other sites I visit, and I have tried shutting it down and restarting it.

Does it do that only on pages with many pictures like that? Or does it happen randomly on all pages?

It is possible that one of the ads causes a problem with navigator of the ipad, and unlikely for the moment you're getting that ads (ads are sent depending on the country)

I only ever get to page 1 of unidentified, and it freezes. Ad was for LaLaLand.

I mean pages others than the unidentified.
A movie page with less pictures, e.g. http://www.imcdb.org/movie_1472584-Max-Steel.html
Or just a vehicle page, e.g. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1005395-Chevrolet-Suburban-2010.html

Open site, don't log in, go straight to list of last completed movies, touch Max Steele, ipad goes straight to film page with nine vehicles on it. scroll down, page has frozen half way through the picture of the opening credits posted by Jale, level with the date. No advert.

And with the second link posted above?

I still suspect something with a bad ad though; in such case except waiting that the ad does not come anymore (or block the ads temporarily or permanently) there is no much to do.

Open site don't log in, go to AC 12hp Royal in Ripping Yarns because it's the second car in from the list of makes on the home page. Ipad goes straight to the vehicle, page immediately freezes, no advert.

I then tested the ipad by going to the Hemmings site and looking at the $5000 dollar challenge article, and it worked perfectly.

typed in link to Chevrolet exactly as you showed, ipad won't go there.

Tested ipad by typing in link
as follows

http://www.bdcl.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20642#20642

It went straight there and opened the article.

What do you mean by "won't go there"?
(and what do you mean by "typed in"? just click on it?)
17/02/2017 @ 18:47:10: Johnfromstaffs: Problem with ipad air
1)when I typed in the link into the top of the ipad and clicked, the ipad changed from the link to say "imcdb.org" on the top line, the blue cursor line appeared for about 2cm, then it stopped and nothing else happened.

2)I had been typing the links into the ipad because I am reading them off my lap top, which works whereas the ipad freezes.

3) I have just gone to the ipad, opened the site, and gone to the forum, opened this topic and clicked on the Chevrolet link. It went to the correct page, and immediately froze again.

Again I must say that the ipad is working fine for e-mails and the other sites I use.

most likely one of the ads that causes a problem to the browser of the ipad... should fix by itself when the ad will be replaced by another one

You could try clearing the cache of the browser (don't delete cookies/passwords, just the cache, i.e. temporary files)
I guess it is somewhere in the settings of the browser

Thanks, Antoine.

John, you are not alone, I've also had issues with the site on my iPad. I can look at a few pages, then it freezes. The only way out is to close Safari and reopen. It really doesn't like the back button, which I use when reviewing the All Comments page.
17/02/2017 @ 23:06:54: antp: Problem with ipad air
For testing I disabled the 2nd ad provider (the one that was used when there is no ad to show for the main one), to try to pinpoint the source of the problem.

Not sure if it's related, but I keep getting this message on my laptop:
"This webpage wants to run the following add-on "Apple" from "Apple, Inc." "

My ipad now seems to be back to normal.
