Hey,

i want to ask you what were your weirdest cars you have ever been in. Bonus points if it was driving while you were sitting in it.

Here is my list:

Hummer H2
Toyota FJ Cruiser
Mercury Mystique (it was driving)
Pre-WW1 Car (it was driving)

Too bad i didnt know the type of car but the last one was definitely the oldest car i have ever taken seat in. The driver was on an exhibition and he was actually not open for test drives by people. But it was in the closing hour of the exhibition and we were the last people to see him before he was leaving so he decided to give us a ride.

i'm not sure exactly if it is weird enough but here's mine . i'll take off the ones at the auto shows or the list could get a strange turn ( Dodge Viper, Audi R8, BMW i8, etc ... )

1975 Ford F-350 dumper truck ( it was driving )
around 1980 Renault 5 ( it was driving )
1983 Renault Encore ( it was driving )
early 1980's Lada Signet and Niva ( they were driving )
1984 Mercury Capri ( it was driving , not as wierd as you may think but the rear shape still is to me... )
2017 BMW i3 ( drove it .. ok was at this year auto show but the feeling you have while driving it is really weird, it's about like driving a forklift truck with a decent handling and comfort but without the forks.... )
2002 Daewoo Lanos Hatchback ( drove it ) half the kilometers of my Mazda Protegé and strange, weird, bizarre noises coming from everywhere under the hood... still wondering how that thing kept rolling...
1995 Ford Aspire ( it was driving )
Not sure if i sat in it or not and i don't remember ever seeing it moving but one of my uncles had a late 60's Buick Riviera ( don't remember if it is a 1968 or 1969 )

i'm really curious... how it is to ride in a Pre-WW1 vehicle ?

Slow.

The comfort isn't so well but at these speeds you dont take care. At first those cars seem to be confusing: How to start it, accelerate and shift. But its easier as you could imagine. I could drive it all day just to show off. Its an amazing feeling. The world around you slows down and you take everything easier.

Going by the place where i saw the car there are only 2 options. It was a Stanley Steam Car and if my memory does not obscure me, it was THIS (exactly that one):

Has anyone more details about the model? The driver had an accent familiar to BeNeLux states. Is this plate from Luxembourg?

No "weird" car, but for uncommon ones I drove a Ssangyong Musso around year 2000. It was not common then in Belgium (SUVs popularity was only at its beginning here) and for sure it did not become more common later.

I also drove a Chevrolet Volt for a few minutes. It is not especially an usual car in the US, but here in Belgium I'm not sure it was even sold, as it is rather available as Opel Ampera (and even that one seems rare).

About those I've just been in, I don't remember any right now.

a Stanley ( steam car ) makes it even more unique..... i hope i'll get the same luck one day

Hmm, hard to think about, as someone, who is a car-freak since the childhood, so over 40 years...

The most freaky, I'd say, was

http://imcdb.opencommunity.be/forum_topic-8203-65937-Cars_you_own.html#p65937

I've even owned for a short time

Ober thirty years ago there was an exhibition, where some classic cars were placed, too, and the clueless and dumb exhibitors let all cars open, so I took a seat in

Other memories, well... somehow weird was my first own driving of a Wankel-car, a RO 80, because it was a RHD and happened in New Zealand.

Weird was also the Daihatsu Copen in the Toyota Museum in Tokyo, I've tried to take a seat in it - and stuck! My friend had to pull me out.

The golden Käfer is really astonishing. Isn't that the VW Museum in Wolfsburg?

You can add the Ligier Nova to the weirdest cars i have ever been in and it was driving. The engine sound is terrible and you think the car is disintegrating under your ass. Crazy noise is coming from everywhere in this car.

A Ligier Nova is this.

oh my... how did you landed in this ?

I was at an event yesterday and met someone who lived in the same street as i and as we kept talking i asked him just for fun if he could take me home (because i walked to the event), offering him to drive him next time.

So he agreed and while we were walking to his car, i was thinking: Hmm, maybe he has a Golf or something. I was "slightly" shocked when i saw this car and he said it was his one.

I've driven a Daihatsu YRV - not a particularly exciting nor stand-out experience - but a rare car on IMCDb.

Weird cars?

The closest I've come is some homemade trike with a Volkswagen Bus engine that had less room than an MG Midget from the 1960's. I actually had to see a doctor a few months later from sitting in that and the Midget.
