Congrats from me too marioman. Agree with everything taxiguy says, driving is one of the best things that happens in life in my opinion.
Incidentally, the first car i ever drove was my mum's manual Honda Civic.

Congradulations! Driving is great fun once you get past the initial confusion and scariness. After a while it becomes totally effortless, like riding a bike or swimming.

A couple of hours ago, Dads 1997 Ford Fairlane (auto trans). Got my learners a few days ago, and I did circuts in a car park for an hour. Next up is mums manual (hopefully tommorow ). I also learnt a bit of parking. Luckily their were no cars for me to hit!!!

First car I drove was my mom's 1990 Plymouth Voyager. I was 12, and we were on vaction in a very rural area. There was a very long private road leading up to the cottage we were staying in. Every time we would leave the cottage to go into the town I would drive the van down the little road and then hand the controls over to my mother when we got to the real roads.

The first car I drove for real was the driver's ed Oldsmobile, a 2002 Alero.

First car I ever steered: my uncle let me sit in his lap while I steered his '55 Chevy Bel Air on a back road in Talladega Alabama (yes, *that* Talladega).

First car I ever drove on a highway was my mother's 1977 Ford Country Squire station wagon.

Some years after my first experience with the Audi 100 Typ 43 from the neighbour, my father let me drive his 1977 Audi 80 on an empty parking-lot. I was 15 then.

A red VW Golf II Diesel with a 55 HP engine at driving school. Followed by dad's Alfa 75. My first own car was a white 75 HP, 3-door Golf II. WIth sun roof, but an absolutiely crappy radio.

My dad's Chrysler LeBaron wagon. It seemed extremely big (which it was) and powerful (which it wasn't). I just did a few laps around the lawn. I think I was 13 or 14.
