So I looked it up in the Standard Catalogue of Imported Cars, and it was listed as an official import from 1958-1960, at an initial price point of $2835. They listed that 2267 Goliaths of all types were sold in 1958, and 3478 in 1959. They didn't list 1960 sales. They did note that 1961 was the name change to Hansa, but the Tiger was not on the model list of available models that year, and that was the final year in the US market for the company.

No wonder why I had zero idea. Still don't know what that is, but at least now I can look it up!

I wonder if they still run as vehicles, or are used like trailers, put there with the help of another vehicle.

Many of that Type H vans were imported for "Food Truck" business purpose, still very nice to see them around.

Mid-August I was in New York for a week, not many unusual vehicles spotted there.
Trucks seem enormous of course for me, as Euopean Especially this kind of trucks with engine in front of the cab in city streets:
(compared to the usual cabover trucks in EU)
I didn't know that the NYPD were still getting smart fortwo, here a relatively recent model:
And a matching trailer
Is the driver door reinforced to be bullet proof? Other police cars seemed to have that additional layer on the front doors.
BTTF replica in the Hard Rock café:
A bunch of Citroën Type HY around the Rockfeller Center:
It felt like a fake EU location from a movie set
