Dad and I had the misfortune of being given a Toyota Roomy for our Hokkaido excursion... it was a massive step down from the Yaris I drove a few weeks prior in an unrelated trip... Much less the Subaru Impreza hatchback that we drove the last time we went to Hokkaido.

I'm digging up this thread, I though it was newer than this (or was there a second one on that subject?)

Back from one week in Croatia, where I drove a SEAT León for a week (on more than 1000 km).

It was nice, a little big as we asked for the category below.
The only other downside was the turbodiesel, I prefer gasoline (or better, hybrid like the Yaris I drive currently).

Drove a terrible Volkswagen Golf 7 with DSG.

Broke my dashcam cable because the 12 Volt socket was too far away and my cable was too short.

The DSG was the only thing that satisfied me. This black plastic is ugly, the tyre pressure sensor gave false warnings and this is not good enough for a car that starts at 18,000 Euro.

Isn't rather the opposite, the US that has bigger standards than the rest of the world?

Oh, we did. Those of us who weren't born in the late-1990's know what a big car is. Check out this ad for rental cars:

To make matters worse, my 16-year-old Toyota Camry is actually bigger than the Chevy Impalas of the 21st Century.

Reserved an SUV this week, they offered a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. Was hoping for something a little bigger to haul stuff. I always wanted to drive an Italian car, but this was not what I meant. Needs more hamsters to get it running.

A couple weeks ago my Dad and I rented a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab from U-Haul to help move some stuff over to our new house. I had to drive it since he broke his foot a few days before. The 5.3 liter V8 in it was really powerful and the handling was really good, had a slightly better turning radius then my TL since it is 17 years newer.

(though that rental companies should then accommodate to local trends)
