I have read that WWI-vintage U.S. six-ton tanks were used to portray Japanese light tanks in the John Wayne epic "Sands of Iwo Jima" but a recent review of the film does not confirm that. In a couple of scenes a perhaps legitimate Japanese tank which appears to be a Type 95 Ha-Go is in the background but I couldn't spot any U.S. six-ton tanks (they are shown as Van Dorn tanks on IMCDB.org).
There are plenty of USMC amphibious tracked vehicles, Sherman, and Stuart tanks but I failed to see a U.S. six-ton light tank of WWI vintage.
Can anyone confirm my observation?
