I did it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. 9 or 10 suggestions I made for editing or adding details still have no answer, and I think some will stay that way as I made them some weeks ago. I just hope some visitor or contributor will read them one day and just say if I'm right or wrong :smile:

Things posted on weekends gets more easily missed by me (as I do not check the site on weekends), I do not know for other admins.
Also, if you post a small info in the middle of a text with pics and links, it will most likely be missed too.
If a code has to be changed, no need to explain all the history of the car :tongue:

Ok, I'll stop transmit that kind of info. Unless I thing there is a huge mistake?

I meant changing the kind of code used, like for the R12 or for the Estafette. That will be cleaned more easily on the new site, and anyway lots of work will be required to convert data to it.
If there are errors to a few vehicles they can be fixed of course. Or info added, like for the R7/Siete.

You can post comments on the site directly to fix errors...

(and no need to include 3 pics and 5 links each time :grin: just tell what to change)

You want me to limit my creativity? Are 1 pic and 3 links still allowed? :boidleau:

It's important for me to explain why I think there is an error or a lack of information. I could say it's because of my newbie status in IMCDb, but in fact it's a habit I have since I worked as a teacher. Showing where I think the problem might be usually:
- help me understand why I was "mistaken on the mistake", when people explain me why I am wrong (like here);
- or help (at least most of the time :wink: ) the mistake being no longer made, if there was one.

See it also as source sharing... But if most people find it bothering, I can try to stop. Just say it.

For small change(1), I do not necessarily put pics. Maybe just a very small little link? :whistle:

I don't think it is useful to make a lot of change in the current models/codes, all that will be replaced by another system on the new site, when it will be done.

Ok, I'll stop transmit that kind of info. Unless I thing there is a huge mistake?

(1): thanks for the Renault ZOE codes :smile:

Logical, but then wouldn't it be more accurate to use only generic codes for chassis (at least with the problematic older Renault code) for visitors/contributors to better find cars, like I suggested earlier?
So anyone searching Renault Estafette vehicles by the R213 code would also see Alouette, for example, and thus see the Estafette minivan could also be a minibus.

(Is there any existing thread for errors we might see? I saw at least 2 or 3 Alouette models in the Estafette ones...)

It searches on the start of model name but the whole chassis code.
That's made on purpose.

What if someone add a R 1283 model (Siete/7 TL), for example? Will this one be found among "simple" R 128, like Saab 9000 are among Saab 900 (ok not a really good example, but unfortunately true :smile: )?

Well, I tried with R110, the generic code of the Renault Frégate:
http://imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Renault&model=R110
nor
http://imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Renault_model-R110.html

gives anything, and you have to be precise to have a result:
http://imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Renault_model-R1103.html || http://imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Renault&model=R1103

http://imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Renault_model-R1104.html || http://imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Renault&model=R1104

etc. Don't help :ddr555:

While searching
http://imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Renault_model-7.html || http://imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Renault&model=7

gives Renault 7 (the post 1979 face-lift Siete) as Renaut 7/8cv or Renault 750kg

(And
http://imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=SAAB&model=900

give 12 pages out of 51 of Saab 9000 :tinostar: )

I still don't have understood all the subtleties of what must be no more than a "select [...] like '%...%'" request, but I won't give up :joce:
(a "%" missing at the end of the command when searching in the chassis table/field?)

Thanks, Monsieur!
May seems to be a kind of laziness (and maybe it is a little :grin: ), but it will be easier to find the Spanish "backpack R5" with that code.

Could have been in another thread, but it is the same problem: wrong/inexistant code used for a Renault...

The genuine generic code of Renault for the Renault Siete/7 was R 128 (or R 1283 for the Siete/7 TL and R 1287 for the 7 GTL). Using it might avoid to have to search the 29 Siete and 7 models amongst Renault 7/8Cv and other Renault 750kg.
Ok, it's not that hard, as there is only two pages, and a special research is always possible, but it would become easier to "extract" them :smile:

Thanks! My German is quite a bit rusty, but I understand the basics. I'll keep this link in my toolbox.
But I promise I won't bother you with VW products. At least not on this "code issue" :wink:
