An history of the Renault 20 TS (in French):
http://zorgblogauto.canalblog.com/archives/2012/01/19/15113273.html

This website applies in fact to a lot of cars that are or were sold in France, but production years and technical data sheets of the Renault 20 can be found here (in French too - maybe not exhaustive):
http://www.autoweb-france.com/fiches-techniques/Renault/all/
weasel1984

According to a Romanian guy who was trying to restore one of them in 2012, there was only 2-3 hundreds made.

World Cars 1981 mentions Romania assembly of Renault 20 in small print appendix of foreign assembly, but not named as Dacia 2000 (none of these appendix entries give local names) nor shown in main text entry for Dacia models. No mention in 1980 or 83 editions, and I don't have 82.

Yes, this assembly didn't last long and perhpas had over in 1982 (car linked above is from 1982). Romanian wikipedia says they started to assembly them in 1980.

Good link, so it confirms that TX 2.2 was also available in Dacia form. Thanks to this, it was possible to identfy more exactly the IMCDb's only Dacia 2000: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_446378-Dacia-2000-R1279-1981.html
dsl
Pity there is no datas for the Dacia 2000 assembly.

Seems not to be a any real information about this car anywhere at all. Did it really exist? :whistle:

There is some pictures with his account:
http://generationrenault203.forumpro.fr/t1208-renault-20-tx-dacia-2000

You'll also find 3(!) pictures in the prototype page (!!) of a Romanian website, among really strange Dacia things:
http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/images/mici/Dacia/dacia_maxibreak-2.jpg http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/images/mici/Dacia/dacia_convertible-5.jpg
http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/images/mici/Dacia/dacia_cisterna_lapte-1.jpg http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/images/mici/Dacia/dacia_MD87-3.jpg

It's a shame that this website is only in Romanian, as it should deserve to be in the links of IMCDb for the history of the Romanian car makers it presents...

... but the better way is to have at least 2 independent sources. When it is possible.

Definitely!

If you need to know the number of each type of R20/R30 cars that have been produced, this Danish fan page may help:
http://renault-veteranerne.dk/RENAULT20_30.html

There is maybe the source of these numbers in the article. But I don't read the Danish :smile:

I translated this page with web translator and to me the source is not mentioned there.
It is interesting anyway, so R20 TS is/was the leader, but maybe it isn't so surprising, even if we take a look at the cars listed on IMCDB.
Pity there is no datas for the Dacia 2000 assembly.

Yes and the unclear ones have been renamed to [R127] yesterday: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Renault_model-R127.html

Nice!
There is only one R30 within, but it has no picture. Hard to id the trim level, indeed :smile:

I didn't notice the discussion, you have started once, moved from the R6s also to some other models. Fortunately not to R20/30 yet, so I didn't do duplicate. :grin:

It seems the pre-1979 code Renault cars are a kind of mess :smile:

The good thing of this German website is that it indeed has it described more exactly - with years, that's very helpful, without it, changes would be much harder to do.

Indeed. The only thing to remember is that enthusiasts pages are possibly wrong in some details (fr). IMCDb is a good example :wink:
So in my mind, it's a good start, but the better way is to have at least 2 independent sources. When it is possible :grin:

Just a minor point - the TurboD (R1270) doesn't mean the same what the TD (R1276) - not turbo.

Ach! The endlessly problem with the GTD // GT T(urbo)D / TD // T(urbo)D. The car makers "play" a little with this, and the identification is a little bit harder with this...
The renaultconcepts page is a bit old, I don't think they will ever correct it :ohwell:
weasel1984
But as I already said, I think it would be better to use the generic "R127" code for the R20/R30 when we are not sure of the trim level or when we have no idea of the engine...

R 1270 => 20 TD / 30 TD
R 1276 => 20 GTD/TD

Just a minor point - the TurboD (R1270) doesn't mean the same what the TD (R1276) - not turbo.

Except for the model years, which are not given, the renaultconcepts website says the same:
R 1270 => 20 TD / 30 TD
R 1271 => 20 L/TL/GTL
R 1272 => 20 LS/TS
R 1273 => 30 TS
R 1275 => 30 TS
R 1276 => 20 GTD/TD
R 1277 => 20 LS/TS
R 1278 => 30 TX
R 1279 => 20 TX

And the main frame gives you the code for all 1899 to early 2000 Renault cars.

But as I already said, I think it would be better to use the generic "R127" code for the R20/R30 when we are not sure of the trim level or when we have no idea of the engine...

Very good German website about the R20 and R30 (easy to translate with the http://translate.google.com/ ):

+++ http://www.renault20.de/Index.htm +++

Because it isn't possible to paste direct link to every subpage, for faster access I'll rewrite here the factory codes:

Typ-Nr:
[R1271] - 1976-81_______- R20 L/TL/GTL

[R1272] - 1977(MY78)-80 - R20 TS*
[R1272] - 1979-80_______- R20 LS
[R1277] - 1980(MY81)-82 - R20 TS/LS*

[R1276] - 1980-84_______- R20 TD/GTD

[R1279] - 1981-84_______- R20 TX
_______________________________________________________________________

[R1270] - 1981(MY82)-84 - R20 TurboD & R30 TurboD*
_______________________________________________________________________

[R1273] - 1975(MY76)-76 - R30 TS*
[R1275] - 1976-81_______- R30 TS
[R1278] - 1979-84_______- R30 TX

*In brackets I've added Model Years, that we use on the site, as some years mentioned by this table indicate start of the production only.
For example in case of the "R20 TS/LS R1277" our model year is 1981, what isn't illogical, if we compare trim differences between the cars from these years.
Similar is with the "TurboD". Despite the table is saying "1981", then in text the site explains, that it was available since 1982.
