The question came up on why there were different names for the Typ 2 panel vans in the USA. So I looked up what the brochures said over at Samba and am putting that answer here so it can be easy to reference.
The van in question was a 1971 featured on Jay Leno's Garage.
"VW never kept the names straight on them. For this one as a 1971, I think it should be "Delivery Van". That's what's in the US brochures for 1970 and 1973 (the closest years over at Samba":
1970: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/70commercials/page11.jpg
1973: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/73panel_sheet.php
Oddly enough, the 1972 brochure doesn't even mention a model name:
1972: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/72panel.php
But the 1968-1969 US Brochures list it as "Panel Delivery":

1968: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/68commercials/page3.jpg
1962-1967 just says "Panel":

1966: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/66commercials/page2.jpg

1962: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/62commercials/page3.jpg
1961 calls it "Panel Delivery":

1960: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/60trucks/9.jpg
1959: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/59commercials/page6.jpg
1952-1958 was "Delivery Van":

1952: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/52bug_bus/page12.jpg
And that's just the US brochures, Canada may have had different names.
