The '13-'14 FPIU had the 3.7-liter V6 as the only engine option. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost was added for 2015. The civilian Explorer had the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 as their standard engine, with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4 cylinder as an option, and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 standard on the Sport trim. The '20 and newer FPIUs all have a 3.3-liter V6 Hybrid.
One of the easy ways to tell an Explorer from an FPIU is the rear hatch. FPIUs have a keyhole whereas civilian Explorers don't.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to know if anyone knows the difference between the Ford Explorer (civilian) and the Ford Police Interceptor Utility?
The engines, the finishes ...
Thank you.
