Possibly some good news...
Bit of an update.
Some good news for site fans - we'll be going advert-free from 16 December, as I finally turn them all off. I'm sorry they looked so bad and spoiled your viewing experience.
So you'll be able to enjoy unfettered access to the site.
Now, about the future...
A few people and organisations have approached me generously offering hosting and other options for the site to keep the content online. Keeping 20+ years of work alive is my ultimate goal for AROnline, and as such, it would be good to find a solution that works both financially and for my own life/work balance.
It comes down to this - if I can find the right home for the site, a community-based solution, or a site sponsor, and on the understanding I won't be pressured into constantly generating new content to feed some ravenous algorithm, it can carry on in a more static form than it currently does.
The community built up around the site, and information that's been unearthed over the years, is far too good to be lost to time.
As British Rail famously said, 'we're getting there'.

Just stumbled on a post saying that ARonline is likely to close down by the end of the year - content will be frozen very shortly and the site may disappear, although may be shunted onto wayback machine to preserve access.
A fantastic resource for us Brits, which many of us have used extensively. So if you've got favourite pages, grab the info while it's still available.
