Yes, that’s quite funny. My 1997 and 2001 model Expedition’s both had the same Steering column/ Hazard button/ and Column shifter as Qwerty's car. I can’t see the Title adjust stalk on the column in Qwerty’s car, but I would bet it was even the same. The only part that was different was the Steering wheel itself, which was carried over from the Ford F-Series trucks. The Expedition even shared the same dash layout from its parent vehicle; the 1997-2002 F-150. The front (hood, fenders, grille, headlamps, bumper and bumper valance) was carried over from the F-150 as well, but after the A-pillar the Expedition was a whole different animal. When Ford partially redesigned the Expedition for the 2003 model year (about 90% of it was revised) they gave the Expedition its own look (inside and out) to separate it from it’s parent vehicle. Ford has quit most of it cosmetic parts sharing, but they still partake in mechanical parts swapping. I don’t think that will ever go away as it helps them cut-costs.
