(Dad's Cars) 1932 Ford "B" Roadster.He bought off a guy that dropped the fresh engine from a wrecked dirt tracker into it.Said it was "A good running ol' Ford".(About 1947-early '50s?.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------1940 Fords.He had 3 of them at different times,one was a Convertible with a 1948 Mercury engine in it,from a low mile wrecked car.Also had Coupe & Tudor versions,and maybe a '41 Fordor as well? (Late 1940's-Early 1950's.) --------------------------------------------------------------------He also had during this time a Harley "45" (WL?) motorcycle,possibly a WW II or Ex-Police bike?? Said he liked it,but was "too many crazy people on the roads" even then?? (He told a story a few times about being run off the road by a Greyhound bus...with my Grandparents following him!!...near Fordyce,Ark)(1947/48-52/53-ish.) -------------------------------------------------------------------1955 Ford Mainline 2dr.His first new car! White.Think he said it was a 292/3spd w/OD.(1955-58/59). -------------------------------------------------------------------1958 Mercury 4dr Sedan,maybe a Montclair.Turquise & White? Said it was almost new then.The first "real" family car after parents married in '56 (And Mom was a divorcee with kids going into it!)(1958/59-1964) --------------------------------------------------------------------1951(?)Packard 4dr,maybe a 300 or Deluxe series? Possibly Green.Bought as a second car about (1959-60,sold about 1962.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------1964 Ford Galaxie 500,4dr sedan.Medium Blue & White.Think it had a 352,Auto Trans of course.First car I remember.Car bought in Honolulu,went to Augsburg,Germany,traded off in Alabama.(1964-70.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------1970 AMC Ambassador SST S/W. Green W/woodgrain.One of only two Non-Ford family cars we had.Story was that the US Army bought '69's as Staff Cars,and Dad had occasion to drive one & liked it.Car turned out to be a total Lemon!!! Taken back in trade for another car.(1970-71.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------1959 Pontiac Catalina 4dr sdn.Beige/White is best I can describe color? 389/Auto I'm sure?? Another Used 2nd car,think he paid $300 for it off a guy in his unit.Said he sold it for what he paid for it!!(1969-72) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------1968 Mercury Monterey 4dr HT.Dark Blue & White,had a 428 4bbl/Auto.With Duals! Got car in trade/settlement for the AMC S/W above.Fastest of all the Family cars,Dad actually hit 100 mph on the 'Bahn in it once :banzai: !!!(He wasn't big on fast driving?) Car went to Neu Ulm,Germany 1972-75,car was sold to a German we knew who just loved that car & wanted to buy it...so we sold it to him when we left? (1971-75) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------1975 Ford LTD 4dr sdn,Dk Blue/White V-Top(of course?)400-2bbl/Auto.Car also went to Germany....Twice!....and the same base both times!(Baumholder)This was the car I did my drivers road tests in...in two states(Alabama,Texas)...and one foriegn country!(U.S.Forces in Germany) (1975-85.)(I wanted to buy it,but it was sold out from under me :cry: ...Dad said later that he should've just given it to me,just to keep it in the family?) -------------------------------------------------------------------------1973 Dodge D-100 Adventurer.2 tone Beige.Another 2nd vehicle,though it got kept thru the overseas postings,he let my Grandfather use it.318-2bbl/Auto.Sold after Dad retired from Army & he went -back- to work,and got company van.1976-84/85.Guy he sold it to hit bridge & totalled it soon after. :cry: He also said he ought to've just "let me have it"! --------------------------------------------------------------------1984 Buick Regal Limited 4dr.2 tone Blue.My Mom always wanted a Buick.She finally got it!! Fully Loaded but for 2 or 3 options.(No sunroof or Dig.Dash....or V-8!!)1st car they had with Tilt,Cruise,P.Seat/P.Locks/P.Windows
or AM/FM/Tape! Also only car owned that needed Eng.Overhaul(Heads,Oil Pump)or a Trans? Totalled in front of parents house by Hit & Run driver :eek: (jumped curb,came into yard & nailed it in the driveway).(1985-94) ------------------------------------------------------------------1986 Plymouth Gran Fury. Ex-Police car,Solid White.Actually,it was -MY- car,but after the Buick got hit,I let them use it a while.Dad kind of liked it,said it was fun to see people look twice to see if it was still "active duty" :na: .Mom on other hand didn't,said it rode too stiff & was "too plain".(1994-96) --------------------------------------------------------------------1995 Ford Crown Victoria.Dark Blue.The very last car my parents owned.Bought at "Year End Clearance" about Dec 30,1995.Dad once said it was one of the best cars he ever owned.Mom gave up driving in early 96 due to health,so she didn't drive it much? Parents owned until their passing a few months apart in 2003. 1995-2003.(My car since 9-17-03) ======================================================================Dad had as a Company vehicle a 1980 or 81 Ford E-150 "windowed" Cargo Van.300 6cyl/Auto.When he retired "again",they gave him that(very worn out!)van.Had 300,000+,and it showed!! He sold to some Mexicans who took it "South" in about 1996. ====================================================================== (Mom's cars) Before my folks married,I've heard her talk about owning an Oldsmobile,from description it may have been a 1942-47 2dr "Futurmatic" sedan.Said a salesman had it before her,it was rather worn out for such a newish car.About 1950-ish. ------------------------------------------------------------------Henry J,unknown yr.(Built 1951-54)Said was a Dealer's demo car,had like 2000 miles.She said was a 4cyl/3spd.May have been Tan or Beige? Sold after Parents married,1957-58?? ===============================================================================- ============================================================= Parents also either Co-Signed or helped with down payments on a used 1970 Ford Maverick,a demo 1975 Plymouth Gold Duster and a demo 1976 AMC Gremlin for my sisters at different times.Me & my Brother...we were on our own!! (Though I inherited the '95 Crown Vic.....Nice car,but I wish parents still had it? :sad: :sad: :cry: )
