Something else, which sucks really in the wintertime, is the salt on the roads. Yes, it makes the driving better (and often just possible), but also the cars extremly dirty. Just after a few kilometers at this weather (plus/minus around 0 degrees, sometimes a bit rain or snow), its over and over slurred with a smeary salt/dirt/water-mixture.

Sure, nowadays there is much less salt on the road than in the 70ies, but it's not good for the car either.

Until last week my Omega was broken (a f.cking expensive defect at the injection-pump), so I had -quity angrily- to use my K 70. When the Omega was repaired, I brought my K 70 back in its winter-sleep-quarter at a farmer's barn in the next village.
To avoid rust and clean it to an acceptable condition, I had washed it - something, which can really make you pissed, a handmade car-wash at plus 1 degree.
Noone had helped me, no support like this:

If you ask, why I haven't used a car-wash, it's a simple answer: except the fact, that it's mad for the 35 old metallic-paint of my car, the brushes don't clean the back of my K 70.
And quite important fact is, that the water of a car-wash will be used several times. It will be cleaned, so the biggest dirt and oil will be filtered, but not the salt, they are washing from the cars in the winter. So at a car-wash in the wintertime, your car will get a real salt-shower. So I avoid that.
Hopefully now my Omega will going fine, that I can let my K 70 in the barn until the spring comes.
