Thanks for the offer. This one from The Stranger(1946) is not from New York City, but it does take place in Connecticut, and has been nagging at me for quite a while.

I would certainly like to get a closer and clearer picture but
off the top of my head I would lean toward a Fitzjohn.
Fitzjohn was a lower grade manufacturer mostly for Canadian
consumption but did have a U.S. presence through the forties
and fifties.
Unfortunately, and as with other 'mediocre' makers in the
medium range, GM wiped them out and Fitzjohn's run ended in
1960.
