Out of topic, but it appears that almost every Volkswagen car sold since 1995 can easily be remotely unlocked without a VW key. Hard times for Wolfsburg's company...


This is nothing new. So back in the 70ies and 80ies there weren't also any different key-profiles per car maker (actually there are only a few companies, which produce keys and locks for the car industry).

It happened to my father back then, that on a supermarket parking he opened a 1977 manilagrün Audi 80 and thought "Err, something is different here. My car smells different. And it doesn't have such seat covers" - because it was not his Audi. This stood one line behind :lol:

In the mid-80ies some guys in Denmark have found out, that you could open a third of all German made Ford with a thin faked aluminium "key", send by Readers Digest" in a advertising letter :ddr555:
I think, I have this "key" still somewhere in my childhood-stuff, but I never tried that, too.
