About the model years: from April 2009 onwards, French plates system models give a registration number that is a "car life" one. So it can help to give the date of the first registration of the 2009+ cars. When visible, of course 
The DS site shows rear faces at first for the 3, 3 Cabrio and 4 models, and one has to scroll to see the grille, which didn't change indeed
But their official name is already DS 3 ans DS 4, there is no Citroën in it.

One possible issue is that for the moment only the DS5 has been restyled. The DS3 (and I think the DS4) still even has a grille with the chevrons.
