anyone recognize these 2 UK films about men who restore old roadsters?

I'm searching for the titles of two old British films from my boyhood. If anyone can help identify them, I'd be very grateful.
The first film was probably from the mid-1950s and was in black & white. It was about a fellow in his 30s who was a rival for the affection of a young woman with a brash fellow in (IIRC) an Austin-Healey roadster. Our hero salvages an old (pre-War) car and restores it; the film goes into considerable detail showing his restoration process. The young (12 years old?) daughter of the garage owner (?) is his ally. The fellow's efforts and his gentlemanly behavior favorably impress the young woman and he wins her heart. (No, it's NOT "School for Scoundrels"!) The film was probably 45 minutes long.
The second film was in color and was probably from the mid-1960s. It was essentially a children's film and it concerned a boy and girl whose friend, a young man, pulled an old wrecked car from the junkyard and restored it, giving a ride to the two children. The car may have been an MG-TC or something similar. The main thing that stood out in my mind was how green (forested) the settings were. (No, it's NOT "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang"!) The film may have been a short of 20-30 minutes.
I realize it's not much to go on, but I'd appreciate any help!
