I should have been more specific I guess. What I meant was Mechanical Specifications and Convenience abilities. I do know a SUV would have to meet or exceed several criteria to be deemed "Truly Purposeful".

Indeed, On-Road ride quality and Luxury features would be a mute point in such a list.

It would have to be:

(A) Powerful and Reliable
(B) Able to perform at least Intermediate Off-Roading or Better
(C) Able to carry a suitable amount of Passengers* and or Cargo/Luggage*
*(More than what a standard family Sedan is able to accommodate)
(D) Have a high towing capacity*
*(This excludes car-based or Crossover SUVs)
(E) Ergonomically friendly
(F) Excellent Safety Record

But isn't that what a Minivan is for? Why is that so important in an offroader?

(E) Ergonomically friendly

What do you mean by that exactly?

Yes, however a Mini-van can’t perform Intermediate Off-Road tasks now can it?

Why is that so important in an offroader?

It would not be useful to a family, if the vehicle was limited in how many people it could accommodate. (It would be really useless if a family uses the SUV off-road and seating was limited)

What do you mean by that exactly?

Just ease of use, not complicated to operate and or incorporates useful/handy features.

Anyway, here's what I think an "ultimate SUV" should look like:

I like this one, because the headlamp popped out so it looks like its dead or had the wind knocked out of it.

I kind of like the original Hummer but I'm not sure it should have been released commercially, but then we have Arnie Schwarzenegger to thank for that. I mean a civilian has absolutely no use for an H1, but then it's America, where civilian can also buy automatic rifles like the M-16.

But I hate the H2, it's just a pimped-out Chevy Tahoe, it's nothing like the real Hummer. And that goes for the H3, except it's a little smaller.

What’s really bad is the Hummer H2 has one of the poorest towing capacities for a full-size SUV. The average towing capacity for a H2 depending on how it’s equipped, is ....*drum roll please*.... Just 6,000lbs! Plus its higher bumper height makes towing more difficult.

This is why I could never use a Hummer. I usually tow items that weight more than 6,500lbs (my boat & boat trailer/horse trailer etc.) My Ford Expedition Limited, whose towing capacity is 9,000lbs will tow twice the amount a Hummer H2 can. Which is pretty shameful for the Hummer H2.

9000lbs is not twice as much as 6000lbs is it? So an Expedition can tow a trailer weighing 4 metric tons? That's nearly twice the weight of the car, isn't that dangerous?

Anyway you do realise that most H2s aren't used for pratical purposes, they're just posermobiles.

In general the act of towing itself and both securing the object you’er going to tow as well as the trailer itself can be very dangerous (if you don’t know what you’re doing) This is especially the case if you have never towed anything before. Even if you DO know what you’re doing while towing, you still have to keep in mind the other idiots on the road who don’t know how to drive. For me, on average towing is rather uneventful.

As for the Expedition? Is it dangerous that it can tow 4,000lbs more than its own weight?

For sure no.

Well, if you're going to tow something that's heavier than your vehicle, you'd better be very careful because if the trailer goes over, so will you.

Also because you're not a total idiot.
