The M-47 Mercury Truck at the webpage below is not an M-47. In Canada in the late 1940's Ford and Mercury Trucks were given different designations than the US F-1, F-2, F-3 etc.
They were given designations based on their Gross Vehicle Wieght(GVW).
A half ton with a GVW of 4,700 pounds was called an F-47. A three quarter ton with GVW of 6,800 pounds was called an F-68.
A Mercury half ton was an M-47....a three quarter ton an M-68 and so on.
Attached is a page from a brochure for an F-68. You can see in the top left the reference to 6,800 GVW.
The truck in the site below is a dual wheel truck but I cannot determine the actual model....but it is not an M-47 as indicated.
