Had this on DVD, figured I'd submit some widescreen pics from it.
Cadillac Funeral Coach:
Land Rover Series 109" IIa Station Wagon:
Chevrolet Impala:
Ford LTD II:
Jeep CJ-7:
Ford Pinto Wagon:
Ford Fairmont:
Pontiac 6000 Safari:
Cadillac M41 Walker Bulldog:
Some cars not listed:
What is identified in comments as 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (on the right). 1 star.
Coroner's van. Ford Econoline? 2 stars.
Station wagon of some sort. I wanna say either a Chevy Caprice or Impala. There's multiple shots of it. 1 star.
Cars to either side of Dracula and the police car. 1 star each.

I don't find any reason to change the current pictures http://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=93560
They are quite good and with clare ID. Probably they were 4:3 ratio and look nearer than the pics you have submited here.
Obviously the cars not listed will be uploaded

Your definition of good is a strange one. I would've thought widescreen captures from a DVD would be welcome with open arms. I guess that's why I'm not a mod anymore.
And what does them already being clearly identified have to do with it?

I didn't mean to offend you and, please, don't guess what you have said because it's not true. I don't have ANY problem with you (also in past time)and I don't know if you will not be admin. anymore (?). I hope -and i'm still waiting- an answer about that in admin. section. I ask for that if you remember.
Of course DVD quality is better but, for that must improve the previous pics
Do you think this one
is better than this one
??
I don't think so. And -opening your thumbnails- I've found that previous pics have a better ID. Only this. Nothing more and anything strange. Only my opinion that, obviously, can be wrong.
I'm sure I'm continuously wrong (every day) from i'm helping in contribution procesing (not only with you) saying 'no' to some pics of others users. And, for that, nobody tells me i'm in problems with him.
I'm too old to get upset with these matters so I hope stronghold answer positively about I asked for.
Bye

My main goal was providing full shots of the cars if possible.
That police car pic there for example. Mine shows the full vehicle. The current one only shows the front part with the rest blocked by Rudy's shoulder. That, and the current picture is of a minor police car used only in that scene, whereas mine is of the one Del Crenshaw and Rich Sapir drive in several scenes.
True, Stronghold's are brighter, but a bit on the fuzzy side. Then again, now that I look at them, so are mine (esp. the coroner van, but that's mostly due to the van being in motion in the one shot it's in). Oh well.
Least the previously ignored coroner van got added. S'all I really care about.

About the police car, I agree with Vilero: the current picture is better. Indeed it does not show the full car, but it stills shows more than a side view in the dark.
About the other cars: some were cropped. For example the Fairmont or the LTD. So I'd say that it is normal to replace them, but the new pictures provided look rather blurry, so the cars are not very visible on them And for some it must have been possible to find better shots, e.g. for the Pinto.

The reason they're blurry is because I used XnView to lower the filesize as you said. Doing so, combined with resizing them, seems to always drastically lowers their visual quality for some reason.
Either way, these are straight from the friggin' DVD so I don't get why they turn out so crummy. They look so pristine when I first take them.
The current pics are 'adequete.' But we still to look into getting better screenshots. Maybe someone else out there has the DVD and can get better ones without losing the visual quality upon resizing them. 'Cause I honestly have to be doing something wrong if DVD captures turn out so crappy...

Can you send an untouched pic of the LTD for example, to compare?

Still a bit blurry but this is on account of the fact the camera is panning right (to begin following the Land Rover coming in from the left).

For comparison here's the stationary hearse with no motion blur whatsoever:

Even in these there is pixelation. I guess it's just my crummy computer. Besides, as you can see, I take the pictures using the 'print screen' button.
I gotta wonder how much of it is due to the saving process and them being uploaded to Photobucket/ImageShack....either way I guess I'll always have to submit subpar DVD screenshots.

Did you already try to use another program? E.g. Media Player Classic and use its "capture" function to not have to use the print screen as you currently do?

Not yet. I'm experimenting with saving them as PNG files. They seem to retain their quality that way, but I doubt PNGs are submittable.

You can convert them to jpeg just before submitting them, it is better than doing it before resizing.
