I saw this "Chevrolet" Civic in the junkyard parking lot today.

 After the high number of Japanese, Korean or European cars rebadged as Chevrolet, why not a Civic

It reminds me my father's Civic ('84 model), which had VW hubcaps for a long time.

Such a Civic Shuttle I had rented in 1998 in New Zealand at "Rent-a-wreck" in Auckland. Correctly said, I had two of them, after the first one broke down.

Before we got the Civic, my friend (1.93 m, 155 kg) and me (1.89 m, 110 kg) had presented a orign slapstick-show: when we tried to enter the car, we had chosen at first, a 1986 Honda Jazz. No kidding, it was not possible for us to take place in that car and to drive it. No chance.

Yesterday I saw the first Tata-truck (a light one, max 3.5 tons) with German plate.

@Antoine: don't forget the Russian. In Russia itself they are selling the Lada Niva nowadays as Chevrolet, too.

Unbelievable, how GM had destroyed the reputation of this brand. Much worse than Lancia and Rover did it.

It was a nice treat to see this DeLorean on my lunch break back in October. It was parked in a private driveway though so I did not feel that I should go for a closer look.

I went to the Detroit Autoshow this week, and I got some pictures of some interesting new cars.

The severely bloated 2010 Ford Taurus:

http://i43.tinypic.com/2v956yf.jpg

The disgusting 2010 Buick Lacrosse

http://i43.tinypic.com/1ghbas.jpg

They also had some Chinese car makers on display for the first time ever ("BYD" and "Brilliance"), here's a rebadged previous-generation Corolla that I'm pretty sure was not used under license...

http://i41.tinypic.com/2lwu6xf.jpg

This is a rebadged previous-generation Accord with a different nose that includes an obscenely large and ornate hood ornament

http://i42.tinypic.com/a9u4j5.jpg

So basically if you want retired Japanese designs with a less reliable powertrain then a BYD is for you

Also here's some nice taxis of Detroit:

-I'm (eagerly) waiting for the SHO before I start paying the Taurus any great deal of attention, but it does look pretty nice.
-What's so bad about the Lacrosse? Too stumpy looking?
-That BYD is the most accurate copy I've seen.
Here's a real one, see how many differences you can spot (I got 6, from this angle):

Chinese car makers are known for copying designs, but I can't remember seeing such meticulous detail before.
-After spending some minutes staring at every miniscule detail of those two cars, I couldn't help noticing; the Lumina uses the same headlights as the Bonneville, doesn't it?

If you're refering to the Lumina APV (like the taxi in that last picture) then yes it does. I made that connection a while back too. A money saving measure I guess.

The new Taurus looks so superb  and the new LaCrosse is just a copy of an Opel Insignia, i don't findit ugly, because i love the design of the Insignia but it's a shame it's not more different but an Insignia with a few changes.

Today I test drove a very nice 1990 Dodge Dynasty. Hardly worth mentioning as "rare" or "interesting" car, buy there's one thing about it that was quite surprising. That car was a "sleeper" if I've ever driven one.

With the 3.3 V6 engine (which this one had), those cars are quick.

Too bad the seller was asking more money than we had to spend...

i am stil unable to drive a car and this will be continue until the end of next week - by my broken hand, my license is still alive. not, that you think something else.

so i am hanging around as a pedestrian. in our village arent too spectacular cars to see -especially not in the wintertime, when classic-car-owners will stored their cars inside. so in the last days for me only a simca 1500 from the 60ies in very good, restored condition was worth to remember.

and i saw a 80ies range rover in the typical "camel trophy"-look. i am not sure, if its a real trophy-car or if it was just a fake, later made by the owner. does anyone know, how to identify the real "camel trophy"-range rover?

tody i saw a white lincoln town car-limo at our local fiat-dealer. it had no license-plates, but no sales offer inside.
the plate-holders were for us-size and it had no front lamps, so i guess, its an import from the usa, which shall get allowed front lamps for getting a registration.

p.s. to be sure, if it really was a town car, i should go there tomorrow again.

something for truck-lovers, a page with historical pictures of trucks, running in eastern germany before 1990:
http://www.lkw-infos.eu/lkw-ddr-1.htm
http://www.lkw-infos.eu/lkw-ddr-2.htm

it belongs to that page about trucks in europe: http://www.lkw-infos.eu/index.htm
