GAZ 24 Volga

When I search for pictures all I get is sedans. Is this a special conversion or something?

A modified wagon I suppose, as indeed I do not find pictures of pickup version...

Isn't it just an American pickup that looks a bit like a Volga?

I do not see which one, as it really looks like a Volga, and it looks more like something derived from a sedan/wagon than a double-cab pickup. And usually in US they make pickup from scratch (i.e. model on its own) rather than base it on another car like what is done in Europe/Russia.

Pickup truck

Volga-based pickup trucks were built by different car repairing plants all over the country. Exteriors differed.

Ahh, you met the Expedition’s daddy ...

A upscale XLT or Lariat version from the 2004-2008 model range (P221)
Fitted with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. It also has a hich ball like the Suburban you found. I wonder if some people import these for towing ?

Ford F-150 and Expedition Towing features include:

• Heavy-Duty V-5 Class IV Weight Distributing Hidden Trailer Tow Hitch
(Supports both Weight Carrying and Weight Distributing, Class III or lower grade Light-Duty hitches only support Weight Carrying. Most SUVs and smaller trucks are only equipped with Class III type hitches)

• Wiring Harness / includes 4 and 7 pin Quick Connectors

• Prewired for Electronic Trailer Brake Controller Module

• Towing Mirrors with LED Clearance turning signals
(LED Clearance turning signals are at the bottom of the towing mirrors and are rearward facing to alert drivers who attempt to overtake a F-150 or Expedition with large trailer in tow, that the towing vehicle is about to perform a lane change)

• Fully Independent Electro-Pneumatic Suspension
(Detects when a Trailer is present, and levels the load accordingly / Only available on Expedition)

• Heavy-Duty Auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler

• Heavy-Duty High-Flow Radiator

• Heavy-Duty Flashers

Vehicles are prepped and ready to tow, right out of the box.

So I'm sitting in the airport right now (this place has great internet connection!) awaiting transport to Seattle, Washington. I'll come back hopefully with some nice pictures of some unique cars. On the pacific people can have older cars for much longer because they don't salt the roads over there as much or at all. I'm looking forward to flying over Montana (I should be since I'm connecting in Minneapolis, MN).

I suppose that it would be the only real reason to use such vehicle

I see a Nissan Figaro practically everyday. Cos at the place i am doing my car spray painting course, one of the lecturers in one of the other courses on the campus owns one. In fact its just recently been repaired for scratches and minor dent.
I like it's retro styling although i wouldnt want one.

There are quite a few Figaros in my distinctly bourgeois London suburb. :)Some of them have a red light next to the rear number plate, like in antp's father's photo, and I think this must be a way of adding a foglight. Then again, the one in the photo has a foglight hanging under the bumper as well.

There are several specialist dealers catering to the Figaro cult in the UK, for example AutoSupply UK.

I too see quite a few Figaros around, they seem to be a cult car, I remember a guy I used to know at work saying he'd like one, although it's not exactly a bloke's car.

I don't know about Belgium but I wouldn't have one of those in France, it would probably get vandalised (like that Suburban that was posted recently)

I know it's something unusual over there, but thinking of an F150 as a noteworthy thing to see is amusing. The website on the tailgate (111.be) appears to be a truck/SUV importer.

On Friday morning, I saw a convoy hot rods (mostly 30s and 40s cars that I don't know what they were) heading east on the highway. This evening, I saw several hot rods and muscle cars heading west on the highway (identified a black '65 GTO, '65-'67 Grand Prix, and a grey Shelby Cobra). I think I missed a car show somewhere.
