Yes it is. It's one hell of a drive from the Northwest Territories, 2.5 days according to Google maps, (including a drive across a frozen river during the winter),to southern Ontario.

I have seen a few of those bear license plates here in NC, now thats one hell of a drive :). Although during the summer I probably see an Ontario plate at least once a day (the joys of living in a resort area)

One of my plate-collector-friends was very surprised two weeks ago, when he saw in the are of Frankfurt an older Opel Vectra - from Mongolia. :wow:
Trucks from Kasahktan or the Iran are not common over here, but more often visible.

Another story with a car out of place.
Some years ago when I was to the Swedish Rally I saw a Peugeot with decals to look like one of the rally cars, it was on a small forrest road where we were supoused to park. It was in the middle of the winter and it was slightly uphill, they had some trouble and was mounting snowchains, then I noticed that they were from Spain and probably had been driving all the way up from there on regular summertires!
In winter time it's the law to have tires marked with 'M+S' (Mud+Snow), most Swedes use studded tires but that is illegal in (atleast) Germany I belive (illegal in spain too?). Regular tires or M+S without studds is NOT recomended in deep snow or the icey surrface on packed snow...

@atom: this is not really uncommon, what you have seen. So many people in Norther Germany, where there are no hills or mountains, habe bought their first winter-tires ever just last year, when there was a new law, that you can be punished, when you are driving with summer-tires at winter-weather and cause an accident or other traffic-problems due that.
So I had bought my first winter-tires in 2005, when I moved far away from my work and had to drive a long distance every day. The 15 years before that, since I had own cars, I always had used summer-tires, and then the cheapest I could get. Pure stinginess.
Do you mean with "studded tires" tires with spikes? If, yes, they are illegal indeed in Germany (since January 1976), and in other countries, too. I think, Sweden and Austria are nearly the last countries, where they are allowed.
The worst reputation about stubborn driving with summer-tires into the winter-vacations to the mountains have the people from Holland.
Every year, when the winter-season starts, many people in mountain-areas are mad and pissed about the Dutch people -only orignal with the camping-trailer
- who are blocading the streets, because they have no experience to drive in mountains and have the wrong tires.
It may sound like an old-fashioned nationalistic prejudice - but often you get the confirmation. So last January, when in Germany we had a real winter, my wife had seen a reportage about the traffic-chaos on the streets to the mountains (to the medium high Sauerland, I think). There was a guy from Holland asked, why he's driving with summer tires into the skiing-vacations. He answered. "Ah, it's no problem. I just have made a safe-driving-training. nothing can happen."

Today I saw something unusual... a Plymouth Colt Vista. As far as I know these were never sold in Europe under that name (we got it as Mitsubishi Space Wagon), but this one seems to be EU-specs though...

In Belgium also saw the Google Earth car (Astra with camera on top) a few weeks ago. Should be in it (if it was filming). Nothing on Street View yet...

This was in Bruges (Blankenbergsesteenweg). I think it was filming actually since it kept a good distance.

@chicomarx: this will take a while. I saw the "Google Earth"-Astra more than 1 year ago and it's not online now.
Perhaps it depends on the juristic fights about Google Earth, we actually have in Germany, as Germaneon has mentinoned.

The Mercedes is a lovely old "fintail" w110, part of the e-class lineage.
Judging by the chromed fins it would be a 61-65 first series. And even though there's no badge, most likely a 190D

Few cars found by my father in the last month...
Cadillac stretched limousine
Chevrolet Pickup 3100-like
Chevrolet S10?
Dodge Ram
Ford Mustang
Ford Pickup F-1?
Lincoln Mark LT
And two that I noticed when I was with him, so he could get a photo (as unlike him, I do not always have my digital camera with me)
Volvo 780
best for the end, 1992 Chevrolet Caprice
Notice that it is a true EU-specs (rear bumper with foglights, plate space, ...), different from that one: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=199254

About a month ago I spotted a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina APV outside my old school. Usually these are sold as Pontiac Trans Sport over here, and even these are quite rare, too.
There's also a car I can't figure what is. It looked just like a 1992 Mitsubishi Space Wagon, only with two doors instead of four. I have simply no idea what I saw.
EDIT: Ah, nevermind - this must have been what I saw: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/2157/2321/5391160002_large.jpg
