interesting/funny/special cars sightings

Spotted a Toyota Estima with French plates today. Plate was W-2?0-GJ for those who like to use the illegal site.

No need for any illegal site
W means a garage's plate, meaning the car has just been sold and is awaiting its normal registration (sorry, I confused with WW) belongs to the manufacturer / a garage. The registration number is renewed each year but stay the same: this plate was therefore given in January 2015.
This doesn't mean that the car is a 2015 model: unlike the other SIV registration numbers, a W belongs to the garage and is not related to a specific vehicle, so a plate can be used on different vehicles as long as it used on one at a time.

[...] Looks like they started with Mediterranean Sea first.

Thanks.
"Mahindra Europe Srl since 2002 is the official importer of Mahindra vehicles in Europe".
Clearly not a best-seller in France, as I never saw any of them before this Spanish one

[...] Also this old Chevy pickup:

If with a genuine hood badge, then a 1956 only Task-Force. The medium bed (long footstep with only one small reinforcement above the rear wheel arch) makes it then a long ½-ton 3200 or a ¾-ton 3600.

Rare model: the Suburban Carrier is the GMC sibling of the Chevrolet Cameo Carrier, forerunner of both the Fleetside / Wide-Side bed style and the Chevrolet El Camino...
This said, this one is more likely a late 1955 model, as the "grille extension panels" (once more, if genuine) were removed for the 1956 model year.

They seem also often used on vehicles that are difficult to register, i.e. vehicles that were not officially sold in France

Today I saw a Jaguar X-Type Station Wagon. My light turned green before I could pull my camera out. I was really surprised to see one.

They seem also often used on vehicles that are difficult to register, i.e. vehicles that were not officially sold in France [...]

These vehicles still need the technical clearance by the service des Mines to be allowed on French roads, even if approved individually. So I'm not sure the W plate help this way. I see it more like garage owners fond of US vehcles and who do that way so that it's the garage budget that is used when about filling the tank or buying parts, and not their own wallet

There's so few Nissan Kubistar that it would me more logical to be proud to own the Nissan model
(For the second generation, both the Kangoo and the Mercedes-Benz Citan are so ugly that no reasonable person would dare to draw attention on them that way... )

It's an import. The added rear foglight is a clue. And the plate check site confirms it : 2006 car, imported in 2007 in Sweden.
