Thank you, guys, I'm really touched.
The engine compartment was also painted, but now is a little dirty, because we (my mechanic and I) worked at the engine.
The steering wheel is also a little dirty (it was manipulated with dirty hands), I must clean it.

Thank you very much Antoine, Neptune!
No, I did not taked it yet to classic car shows, though there are several each year, in Bucharest and in other cities, and the cars are great.

Nice metamorphosis indeed. Reminds me vintage 404 one guy had in our neighborhood in the late 1980s. Together with his son, he always did somthing in (and under) the car.
There was the orginal upholstery under this from the first pics?

Thank you very much, Raji, that's very interesting!
This is a 404 from Algeria:
Algerian plate :
It is in Bucharest, in the area where I live. I spoke with the owner, an old man, and I find out that the car is of 1968 and he bought it in 1973, when he was a teacher of mathematics at the university of Alger.
As you can see in the photos, the trunk, the roof and the wipers are bended, the rear plate was pull out. All these vandalisms did not exist when I saw the car for the first time (the last pic was taken before these vandalisms). For sure some young idiots took "fun" doing that to a car which is, in their eyes, an old, abandoned car. I already said here http://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=29918 what I would do to these punks, if I would catch them.
The 404 was also produced in Algeria?

Yes, we have a lot of idiots here. A lot. Unfortunately, this is just about the only field in which we excel. I'm not afraid to say it, I never was too patriotic (though I'm 100% romanian).

Err, I have to make a confession, right here, right now...
Where I lived during my childhood, there was a scrapyard in the next street (only for metal, no car salvage). Sometimes some people have place their old cars on front of the gate - and when we kids have noticed that, we have plundered and smashed them. I remember, that we have destroyed once an early Renault 16, once an early Audi 60, a mid-60ies R4 and yes *cough* one time a ... Peugeot 404
But you have to note: this was in the early 80ies, when such cars were worthless junk. Especially the wrecks, placed in front of the scrapyards gate.
Those were the days, where I never left the house without having these two tools in the pocket:
From the R4 I picked up an allen wrench, which I had in use for many years further. Unfortunately I cannot find it any more, but I know, that I still had it in the 90ies, when I had my K 70-wrecking garage.
