IMCdb vs Wikipedia

The anglophone Wikipedia is about to change the way the "pre-Navistar" International trucks are identified: all articles about "International Harvester" trucks should soon be retitled as "International" only. A similar move was made in 2017 for the 1977+ S-Series and the related bus chassis.
This will make the IMCDb one of the last collaborative site using the IH terminology. As WP is often used as source in the IMCDb1, should we follow the Wikipedia way if that change is done?

Depends if they have a solid reason for doing this change...
Wasn't the name IH really used as such on vehicles?

It appears that IH wasn't used as make name. Except for the brochures of the 1910-1912 Roadster, all documents use "International [name of the truck]" as title, and "IH" or "IHC", when present in the inner text, is more used the way"GM" would be in the Chevrolet or GMC literature.

When looking at trucks' logos, the "International" badge is clearly separated from the IH/IHC one (once again, when present), so this latter should certainly just be seen as the one of the parent company. More or less like the Iveco badge that was present on Fiat, Magirus, OM or Unic vehicles in the late 1970s / early 1980s.
See, for example, here (1947-49 KB-6), here (1963-70 Loadstar CO) or here (1971-84 Transtar 4200).

And even data plates seem to support this (at least pre-WWII to mid-1960s ones).

I really dislike the way the initiator of this change in WP promote this move (he apparently often harass people that disagree with him), but his argument makes sense, and reflect what can be seen on the trucks, in books and in a lot of sites.

The changes have been made in WP:
International K and KB series;
International L series;
International R series;
International A series;
International C series;
International Light Line pickup;
International Metro Van;
International Loadstar;
International Fleetstar;
International S series;
International S series (bus chassis);
International Newport series.

I may have missed other pages... Some articles still use "Harvster", like the Scout, but they will most probably soon "follow the movement".

Do we change that in the IMCDb too, or do we keep the old habits, even if somewhat deviating from accuracy?

We could change too... I don't have a strong opinion on that.
The subject does not seem to generate a lot of reactions from other members here, maybe not many saw it.

[...] The subject does not seem to generate a lot of reactions from other members here, maybe not many saw it.

My mistake, I gave it a too generic title, as I think this could happen again for other vehicles.
It should maybe be retitled as "International Harvester trucks or International trucks?". This could certainly raise attention to more people... or not :smile:
Thanks in advance to the moderator that will do that (if moderators can do it).

I've read it, and still am thinking about it. I never noticed before that the literature and marketing of the trucks did not included "Harvester", so seeing it now it kind of rocking me. But I guess we strive to ID things based on what the manufacturer promoted, and that would mean changing them. I'm so torn.
