Here are ten of some of the world's top supercars.

Providing that money is no object here, it just has to the Veyron, the fastest and most expensive production car in the world today. The only problem with it is that it's the car you'd feel most weary driving around in, in case anything happened to it.

I'd pick the Aston Martin, I think (not especially for the style, but because the inside is probably better). But I do not especially like supercars.

I do not know. I do not find these specially beautiful.
I usually prefer normal cars (when I was kid I was already like that: I prefered to play with Peugeot/Renault toy cars rather than Ferrari, unlike other kids )

Lol, same here. Supercars aren't my thing either. I'd still rock a Ferrari though if money was no object. F430 = dead sexy!

I like the Mclaren F1 LM. it's one of the rarest cars in the world. Only 5 built.

A little bit of a continuation of the discussion we had on the Match Point page: Part of the appeal of supercars, as well as being really fast and powerful and all, is that unlike Peugeots and Renaults, you don't tend to see them every day. I mean HOW could you ever have preferred any Peugeot or Renault (even in toy car form) to any Ferrari (unless the Ferrari toy was all scratched and beaten)? Ferrari is just the last word in exotic cars. And don't just say "I don't like supercars", I'll admit some of them are a little monstrous looking (the Ferrari F50 or Enzo are the hardly the best looking Ferraris) ever made), but Ferraris are just so much more desirable on almost any level (except praticality) than ordinary cars.
I'm not trying to interrogate you or anything, you don't have to respond if you don't want to, I just want to know what your reasons are for being less than impressed by exotics than ordinary cars? Yes, some exotics aren't that beautiful, they are more about power and speed, but they are a damn sight more striking than the average car. Maybe what you mean is you still like some of them, it's just that you've gotten past the stage of having a child-like awe of supercars. And after all with their cost, they aren't something you have much chance of owning, (although you never know, you're still a young man) so they are kind of impersonal to you.

I do not really know what to reply to that...
I do not know why I usually do not like supercars/dreamcars. Of course there are some that I like, a Ferrari F40 or Mercedes 300 SL for example. Maybe I am "not normal" to not find these expensive cars especially more good looking than some average/ordinary cars I prefer the style of a Citroën XM, Renault 17 or a VW Scirocco mk2 than a Mercedes-Benz W220, Ferrari 250 GTO or a Lamborghini Mirua, that's like that and I cannot change it, sorry
Usually the cars that I like are those of the 80s / early 90s (with angles, rather than the more "round" styles, hard to explain in English), which are often considered as bad looking by many, including in supercars categories.

Fair enough, you just have different tastes in the looks of cars to most people. I still find it hard to believe you don't find something like the Lamborghini Miura (which is a drop dead gorgeous car, I think most people would agree) more beautiful than something like the Citroen XM (which some people think is an ugly car), but I guess sometimes you just can't explain personal preferences. I kind of understand what you mean by finding the more angular cars of the past better looking than the more curvy modern cars. I hate cars that look like the Ford Ka and the new Nissan Micra, I think the old BMWs and Mercs are better looking than the new ones. I also like the Cadillacs of the 80s more than the ones from the 90s and today. However I do think some of the angular cars of the 80s look a bit nasty, "boxy" and dated now, like the Ford Escort Mk3 and Mk4. Also, Wickey will hate me for this, but I've never found the Volvos of the 80s attractive, especially the slab-sided 240 and the 340.

I like the Cadillacs of early 90s boxy but a little "rounded", I think that they look more "class" than the simple boxy models of the 80s, or the ones they made later.

I do not prefer these Supercars in general as I liken them to a fantasy of sorts. Thy are relatively useless. Achieving the maximum speed these cars are capable of is dangerous, I wouldn’t want to drive one as it could become scratched, if left in a parking location. Plus I wouldn’t want to look like a complete prick driving around in one.
I prefer more mundane cars, the one’s you see everyday.

Well of course they are fantasies, that's part of the appeal. And the thing is to become very rich sometimes it helps to be a prick. No offense intended but when I see SUVs in cities, that word often comes to mind. I think SUVs are "relatively useless". Yes, some Ferraris are driven by pricks (like professional footballers), but I tend to admire the car rather the owner, I always turn my head I see a Ferrari on the road, I've never been happy to see an SUV.
Yes, you wouldn't want it to get scratched, but if you were rich enough to have a supercar you should also be able to afford another, less exotic car for everyday use. You're not supposed to treat a supercar like an ordinary car, you wouldn't go shopping in it and you wouldn't park it in a city car park, you'd drive it for fun rather than to go for A to B.

I like the supercars that you can use like an ordinary car, like Porsche 911, Audi RS4 and stuff like that Or the Lotus Omega/Carlton: I do not know why but I find nice this kind of "boring looking" supercars, i.e. that have most under the hood rather than a special style.

I also like the Lotus Carlton (probably a car I'd like in my fantasy car collection!), I like the idea of a Vauxhall that rivals a BMW M5.

I frankly don't see the attraction for a car you can't drive where and when you want. I am not a fan of trailer queens nor garage kept cars that I would be afraid to drive. Owning something just to be able to brag about it has never appealed to me. I don't mind other folks getting their kicks that way but I simply don't understand it.

To me owning fine cars would be like owning great works of art, I'm not just talking about modern supercars, I'm talking about classics as well. I would take care of them and take them out for drives, but I wouldn't use them as everyday cars, I have something more replacable for that. But I wouldn't want have them just to show off, I'd have them because I liked them not because other people liked them. I think most people who own "trailer queens" have them because they love them not just to "brag about it".

I can agree with what you say but I still can't really appreciate the feeling because I just don't think that way. If I have it, come hell or high water, I gotta drive it.

If you have a supercar it's completely up to you what you do with it. If I spent so much money on a car of course I'd want to drive it.

Don't misunderstand, I was just saying that even if I had a million dollar super car or a treasured antique I would very likely end up taking it to the grocery store and the pub. Probably silly but there it is. Because that is the way my mind works, I am not equiped to really understand or appreciate why not.
