All will be 5 stars then
It may be a good idea for a separate site, but I do not think it should be mixed with IMCDb :ohwell: Or maybe if there are video of cars, but anyway a game is too different from a movie I think.

Do you really want to list all 721 cars in GT4?

I think it sounds like a great idea! Or, start a branch off of this existiing website. There is about as much (or more) cars in video games as there are in movies, and I thought it'd be cool to also have a website and/or list them on IMCDB.
And, games like the Grand Theft Auto trilogy, FlatOut and the Burnout series all have cars that are based off of real cars and there aren't any good sites that list them with pictures, a forum and what they are based off of: example is the "SpeedEvil" from Empire Interactive's FlatOut is very clearly a mid-70's Chevy Camaro, and the "Trasher" also from FlatOut is a 1974 Dodge Monaco or the Rancher from Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is a 1980's Ford Bronco.

Very, very good idea. But maybe not GTA4, GTA3 only has 50 cars and VC has about 100 and SA has maybe 500 excluding freight train and Brown Streak commuter?
Other cool games with cars are:
FlatOut
GTA series
Need For Speed series
Burnout series
Midnight Club 3:DUB Edition/REMIX
Ford Racing3
Ford vs. Chevy
Project Gotham Racing 1, 2 and 3

Should you include add-on cars that people made? That would be a whole lot of work. As far as I know, people could just look up the game on the internet if they want a list of the cars that's included and a lot of fan sites have add-ons as well as a list of cars that come with the game.

No, I have found many sites for the GTA series but none try to identify them to real cars. And they are obviously taken from real cars with slight trim differnces. And other games like FlatOut, PGR2, MC3:DUB Edition, the Need Ford Speed series all aren't listed. And it is hard work trying to find a good sights as they are rare. And only the gigantic success games like GTA get their fan sites with the cars listed. And there are NO sites that list more games then just one.

To expand on my last comment, yes there are fan sites listing the vehicles but the problems with these are: 1) They only have lists of vehicles if the game is a gigantic world-wide success like the Grand Theft Auto trilogy, 2)they usually have poor or no pictures, 3)If the car is a fictitious, real-car based car like the cars from GTA or FlatOut, they don't list the real name of the car, 4) They don't have a forum where you can post comments and 5) The sites usually don't list all the cars and the websites that do are very few.
I don't see the big deal because it isn't really any different then animated movies/tv series. All you have to do is add another catagory like "video game" and then it is just like adding movies. And, it is even easier then movies because you can find most images on the net. I think it is an awsome idea, and it won't be out of place because it is basically an animated movie/TV series only it is interactive and you control it.

I see that as really different. Both movies are animated movies are for the same kind of audience, and same kind of "platform" (theatre, dvd, tv), and they are things that you watch.
Games are completely different.
If we list games, we could also list tv-ads, etc. It will never stop then.
I think that it is better to do that on a separate website.
By the way, adding games would require even more time from me (and IMCDb already take lots), and more space on the server (we reached 1 GB of pictures...)

Oh, see if I were older I'd start a site but I'm just a kid! I'd also start a site that lists trains, planes and boats.
I still don't see mutch difference only video games are interactvie, heck, computer video-games are called "DVD-ROM". Video games are on a platform too, its called a video game console like Xbox, Playstation2 or GameCube. And video games are nothing like tv-comercials, and nobody would want to see commercials. I'd like to know just how many people would like video games to be listed and I bet you'd get huhndreds more members.

As you said, video games run on a console or a PC.
Movies are on theather, TV or played on DVD-Video.
These two are not the same kind of "platform". What I said that series, animation movies and movies shared the same "platform".

It is like if a site list car from PC games, and you ask to also list cars from console games. It is OK for it. But then you ask to list cars from movies. That's somewhat unrelated to the main goal of the site...

Okayyyyyyyyy.
Is it really expensive to operate a site like this? I won't be able to untill I am a grown up but I think I will eventually start two site: one for video games and one for odd vehicles like trains, boats and planes.
I guess I see your point but it would be very cool and I bet a lot of people would like it...

When there are lots of visits (like on IMCDb) the ads pay the hosting of the site.

Yeah, webhosting is pretty pricey, especially on a large site like this. A lot of the money is spent on bandwidth, which is how many bytes is transferred within a certain time period. You might be familiar with this if you've ever signed up for a free website from Geocities or something. There's a reason why those are free (tons of ads and low bandwidth).

So, there's fansite for video games for the other vehicles. There's a forum for alsmot everything so don't tell me there's nothing. You could sign up for one and ask for pictures of the cars if you really wanted to know. Plus if you own the game and played it through then you would now what's in the game, right?

What about DVD material on videogames, like on Forza Motorsport Limited Edition had a separate DVD with short introduction of different sides of car culture.

As BeanBandit mentionned, what about a documentary video DVD that comes with a game ? :ohwell: That's a more difficult choice.

If its Internet MOVIE Database, why are is there TV series? No qwerty, there aren't many forums (just for famous series like GTA) for video-games. None for Flatout, Burnout Revenge or Midnight Club 3. And the Grand Theft Auto forums SUCK. All they do is swear and there aren't even any forums for the cars. Also, qwerty, if you've watched the movie all the way through, you should know it's vehicles. Many video games come with a DVD that shows how they made the game or facts or anything else. Like in Destroy All Humans, they have a whole section in The Mothership (it is like a home base center) that has movies (Plan 9 From Outer Space and a few others), how they made the game and other odds and ends.
Maybe it isn't a great idea to list them on the existing IMCDB site, but I think it is a spectacular idea to have a branch off of this site for video games (Internet Video-Game Vehicles Database, IVVD). -Explorer4X4
