Question regarding the Crown Victorias
Published 21/07/2007 @ 03:38:09, By ford_guy
Hey everybody, how's it going. Well, as we all know, there's a lot of Crown Victorias on the site (I'm referring to the 1992-present CV) and I've done my best to arrange those 30 pages by identifying their years and putting in other useful information such as "Police Interceptor." What I want to know from the moderators is if it would be useful for me to provide the P71, P72, P73, and P74 designations, which are the vin numbers for the Crown Victoria? The P71 refers specifically to the police cars, the P72 to taxis, P73 to the base Crown Victorias, and P74 to the LX versions. I wouldn't be able to provide the vin for every singe one (for example, it would be hard to provide a vin for most taxis as I don't know if they are ex-police cars or not). i do feel that it could help in organizing things more. If so, I believe that the VIN would go in brackets, right? I just want to hear what your guy's input is on the matter.

Indeed that VIN would go in brackets. It could be interesting to mention it on the site, but it would be lots of work for both you and me to add it to all the current ones if you post a comment on each of them.
For the future identifications, it costs nothing to mention the code at the same time that you mention the year or a "police interceptor" info, so do not hesitate to include that.
For existing cars, I could automatically add P74 to the LX. For the others, when I have some time I could go through all of these and add the code depending on what is seen on the picture.

I'm still gathering more info on the P73 and P74 designations to see when they were first used. Also, there's also the P70 that I forgot to mention. The P70 is an extended version of the Crown Victoria that was first introduced in 2002 and that was built for taxi companies. There's about 5-7 on the site. But as soon as I get more info, I'll get back to you antp.

Another solution would be to give you admin rights. As you identify lots of cars, in addition of adding years to new ones, you could then easily add missing info on all these Crown Victorias
Would you be interested in that?
