Model Cars......who else collects them?

Back when I was a kid, I used to get lots of 1/18 models, usually Burago and Maisto ones. These were always around £15-20 but there's not really as much of that now. I remember they were other makes around that level too like UT and Gate and if you found the right sales you could find even the really good AutoArt stuff for about £20-30 (I still regret not getting the Range Rover they did). Now it's all much too expensive for me to collect them. And I liked my opening bits.
The resin models all look good and the way the market is they can do lower-interest pieces profitably (cf the K70) when back when I bought 1/18s the ranges were mostly made up of Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.

Went to Walmart yesterday and i guess somebody is messing up with the packaging because i found
Funny as its clearly not the good ones ( i have the both Corvette, same and Chevelle, gold, they are Hot Wheels ) but sad as it looks like its a new company ( at least, i never heard of them )and we can't even see the real product
Did somebody already bought some car from them ?
btw..Star Wars cars...did i missed something or there is no cars in Star Wars ?

Liked the Maisto ones, i have some 1:18 from them and the price was good for the cars they offered...AutoArt are very nice too and got some at various prices. Is there very big differences metal vs resin ?

Resin models don't have opening features (doors, bonnet etc) and people say that Resin gives a better finish than die cast metal. That and the price.

Resin models are much more fragile and if you drop one, results can be catastrophic. Plus more vulnerable to damage in post unless well secured/packed. Advantage for manufacturers is that tooling costs etc more economic for small production runs - so if you want to make a model which is unlikely to sell more than eg 500 examples, resin is the best strategy. So resins can be much more interesting selection of weirdos and oddballs than metal die-casts which require volumes of 2000+ to match tooling costs, although 5000+ is common baseline. And resins more flexible for multiple variations of eg bodywork to produce a family of related but different models.

M2 Machines isn't a new brand. I've bought most of mine in 2009, during my holidays in New England.

There's the Land Speeder...
But yeah, those Star Wars Hot Wheels "cars" are horrible. And they're so expensive ! 9 euro each instead of 2 euro for a standard car. Ridiculous.

Recently bought, '91 Caprice (1:43, "Best of Show" make)
Also, the rare Maserati Quattroporte II (same maker), I wonder if some day we'll get one on IMCDb (even if that looks like a luxury Peugeot 604)
a more common Maserati Quattroporte III ("Neo" make)
a Maserati Shamal ("Whitebox" make)
and a Isuzu Piazza ("Norev" make)
Last time, in addition of the AMC Pacer posted earlier, I also got one more Saab:
I already had many, but not yet that version of the 99 Turbo.

Must be a strange thing... a 1991 Caprice wagon which doesn't take much space..
They are very nice... wish i still had some place available... or that i had started collecting 1:43 instead of 1:18 and 1:24...

Indeed 1:43 does not take so much space, but still... when you get a lot of them. My display cases are nearly full, luckily I do not buy much more models nowadays, but I'll have to find either a bigger home (for extra display space) or remove some cars (resell or put in boxes, in both cases it is annoying since I have to find back the original boxes in my parents' attic).

I also remember that I have several VWs (Passat III and IV, the latter is not a B5 but the III facelift, Corrado and a Golf III Variant Rolling Stones) from "Schabak-Modell" that I bought on the flea market.
They're very nice models, but I recall they were - even on the flea market - very expensive.

I saw them at the ModelCarWorld site, but I'm wary of resin models these days. Especially those of cars with rounded shapes, because the windows, made of thin plastic, often look too flat, and the photo-etched trim tends to come loose after some time. How's the window fitment on your Caprice wagon ?

I didn't touch much, not sure if they are solidly attached I'll check visually if they seem well attached.
But indeed I'm a little afraid on how all these models will age. Not only resin ones, as there were also problems with zamac.

I bought last month a KITT from Hot Wheels... well, two, one is still in the packaging . Not perfect of course but still, a lot of details for 1.45 $ ( taxes included )
Still better than the one i had when i was a kid. It was from ERTL and was nothing else than a regular Trans Am with a red sticker in front and ' Knight Rider ' stickers on each rear fenders

Thanks to my working colleague i started collecting RC cars (again!).
Today i received my 2008 Suzuki SX4 WRC #Toni Gardemeister in 1:10 scale.
Currently it still has "road" tires but i already bought rally tires and my colleague wants to help me change the car settings to rally configuration. Bigger springs, dust protection, etc.
