House moving tractors

Down in Hernando County, Florida, there are some construction projects for widened roads, and two of them involve two roads; Hernando County Road 572(Elgin Boulevard), and Hernando-Pasco County Road 578(County Line Road). The process of building the new lanes for these roads involves moving some houses, and the trucks being used to do so are a sight for sore eyes.

That was oringinally an Autocar, although I'm not sure what model it was. The cab, headlights and fenders were completley stripped from this truck.

And if you think that's freaky, check out this old Sterling:

At least this guy kept the fenders on this one. I'd still like to know the year and model, though.

Back on Hernando County Road 572, there's another stripped house moving truck; A Mack B-61 Thermodyne, although it's less stripped than the other two trucks:

The images are kind of big, so I sent the link instead.

Recently a stripped Oshkosh house moving truck was added to the job:

For a while, I thought this was a White... because I only saw it from a side view.

:icon_smile_shock: That's bizarre! Do you know if they're owned by the highway department or by a private company? like "Lord Humungus' House Moving, Inc"

Private companies. They obviously have a contract with the highway department, though.

This thread is over 1000 days old, but since it's relevant, I have to bring up a link to more of them. I know there's an aversion to ImageShack in recent years, but the images I posted there are still alive at this point, so I'm posting that link now.

That's a World War II-era Pacific M25 tank mover.

Or it was until the tool for uploading pictures for storage wouldn't let me post them in the forum so I could replace the ImageShack links.

Before ImageShack deletes this completely, I'm going to repost these images in new messages. This is that World War II-era Pacific M25 tank mover used to move the houses.
